It was pretty well set up actually. Gerald becomes a hero for getting fighting the cat "crime", gives in to the very thing he was acclaimed for.

Damn, I feel old since I was enjoying the Heavy Metal stuff, plus Cartman as Schindler of the cats.

I thought it was much better than the last two.

I was rolling each time they did the Heavy Metal parody.

It was more a spoof on the fact that kids do use paint, prescription meds, choking and other 'random' things to get high.. to ban all of these things, would be a waste of the govt's time because if someone really wants to high, they will find a way to do it.

I liked this episode the throw back to Heavy Metal was great.

Loved Schindler Cartman - and the jewish music that would play.

They nailed the look of Spitzer's Wife.

Good to see a topical episode - gotta get me one of those flying Trans-Ams

Very true, but it still wasn't funny IMO.

I laughed a lot in this episode, and thought they handled the multiple plot lines well. The best of the season so far, and just a really great episode for South Park.

Cartoon tits are always funny. Even more so when they are hanging off a jousting ostrich monster.

And it was good to see a Kenny centric episode. Is it just me or was he really easy to understand this episode? Maybe after 11 seasons I'm getting used to it.

Yeah...I was like "why is this song so familiar??"...and then the vocals cut in. Poor guy doesn't have the best pipes in the world, but it's such an awesome song and he's criminally underrated as a guitarist. DF.

The Oscar Schindler parallel is what won me over. Every time the Fiddler-on-the-roof-esque minstrel music played I started laughing. I really thought for sure they would have had Cartman at the end saying, "I could have saved more... this watch! This watch could have saved one cat!" Missed opportunity.

I'm glad they didn't - that would've been just way too obvious and pedantic, even for South Park - Family Guy, however...

Is that from Schindler's List? I've never seen it. I remember Judd Herch (sp?) on that Seinfeld episode where he is the close talker that loves Jerry's parents saying something almost the same quote about his watch.

Yeah, Schindler is lamenting that he hadn't saved more.

Well, someone's enjoying the smell of their own farts this morning.

He actually spells it Judge Reinhold.

But it's pronounced 'Throatwobbler Mangrove'.

It was serviceable, like the other eps this season, but I didn't find it particularly funny. Seemed like they had an idea but didn't know what to do with it.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, I might have passed it while reading the thread.

But the root of the episode is a parody of a way to actually get high from feces and urine. Its called "jenkem " So this actually was a pretty current episode. That report was only from a few months ago.

The things they threw in from heavy metal and diary of anne frank really made this episode. Hilarious

I saw more Anne Frank references than Oskar Schindler, including Cartman telling one of the cats to write a diary. Definitely an improvement over last week.

Very enjoyable episode. Heavy Metal - Major boobage indeed. Never thought I'd see Anne Frank/Schindler and Heavy Metal references in the same show. And nice rip from current events.

That's a gross simplification of the Spitzer situation to the point of nearly misrepresenting it. He was an anti-corruption figure, but he was not a pro-morality one at all. While They didn't tailor the episode nearly enough to overcome the criticism that it could be about a large number of political hypocrisies. The same thing goes for the drug portion of the show. That leaves references to two old movies (Heavy Metal and Schindler's List) and to atrocities that happened decades ago.

The Spitzer stuff should have been as sharp or sharper than the stuff related to ancient cultural happenings. That's South Park.

I really enjoyed it. Just watched it again at southparkstudios.com. I thought it was better than endless cheap shots at celebrities. Of course, I'm a fan of the movie, so that helped quite a bit. I really don't think someone who had no idea what Heavy Metal was would get much out of it.

I was kind of surprised that Cartman didn't have some hidden agenda behind his cat sanctuary. Nice to see something a little different. I liked his exchange with Kyle at the end too.
