Sara Rue in the 'Daisy' role actually seems like a good choice to me, but the rest of that clip was awful. The tone is just completely wrong. The 'Tim' is bland, the 'Brian' is just depressing in a not-funny way, and the 'Mike' is just obnoxious, also in an unfunny way.

That was rough, but I think it could have grown into something pretty good if given the chance. As has been said, early US Office was pretty terrible too. It's hard to judge that clip for what it is, because it mimics the UK SPACED so heavy. They did that too themselves, but I would be curious to see what the show could have turned into if the show was allowed to go it's own direction.

Terrible.
The guy playing Tim is Josh Lawson. He is an australian actor and he hosted the aussie version of Wipeout.
I own a few shows he was in. Chandon Pictures & The Librarians.

S2 is great.
As for the American version, I've always considered Community to be the American "equivalent" of Spaced.

I need to rewatch now that it's in Hulu. I have the region 2 DVD, but don't have a region free player anymore.

I think Season 2 came out in 2001, hence all the Matrix and Star Wars episode 1 references in the early eps. It isn't as creative as season 1 but it has a lot of heart.
