Even in later seasons, Alias was still fun to work out to. Mindless fun.

Time for an update
I've completed Angel and have just started Serenity.I've plateaued at 10kg lost and would really need to change my diet (or give up the grog!!) to lose much more but maintaining the weight loss is still important Based on the recommendations here and some fortuitous sales I have the following series lined up: Supernatural S1 Rome S1&2 Deadwood S1-3 Veronica Mars S1-3 Alias S1-3 Buffy 4-7 (Australian WS versions just for the hell of it, bugger what Joss Whedon says) How'd I do? Cheers Martin PS - forgot the Complete X files set!! Last edited by idjit dragon; 02-19-08 at 03:59 AM. |

Honestly, as much as I like Buffy I think you'd be doing yourself a disservice to watch 4-7 again so quickly.
I'd check out Spooks/MI-5 if you haven't do so already. I need to pick up S5 myself and get caught up. ![]()

Start weight lifting. It's much easier to keep off weight than just hitting a treadmill. At least it works for me.

Don't believe I saw anyone else mention it yet, so I'm going to say...
Roswell - There's three seasons for you. I'll also second Veronica Mars. The first season, especially, is fantastic. Another I didn't see mentioned was Tru Calling, which is good for a Season and a quarter. It stars Eliza Dusku (Faith on Buffy/Angel). If you like David Boreanez (Angel), you may also want to check out Bones. There's two seasons of that available now.

Latest update - 18kg (40 lb) lost, the Wii fit tells me that I've gone from being Obese to top of the ideal range, Yay!!! Updated list: Watched: Buffy 1-7 (US Version) Angel 1-5 (UK Version) Firefly Supernatural S1-3 Twin Peaks S1-2 Rome S1 & 2 Deadwood S1-3 Veronica Mars S1-3 Alias S1-5 West Wing S1-4 (almost finished S5) Purchased but yet to watch: West Wing S6-7 Dexter S1 & 2 X- Files S1-10 Black Books S1-3 The Complete Prisoner (though I may have to repurchase on Bluray by all accounts) I'll be getting Supernatural S4 when the pricing's right and maybe more Dexter if I like it. The Sarah Connor Chronicles looks like it's my sort of thing to and The Wire and The Shield are both very cheap here in Oz (AUD $20 and $16 per season respectively) but I don't normally like cop shows? Any other suggestions based on the above - particularly completed series with a few volumes Cheers Martin Last edited by idjit dragon; 11-02-09 at 12:49 AM. |

Re: I need TV DVD Recommendations to lose weight!!
Six Feet Under. granted yes its about funeral home directors and can get depressing at times, it was a great show, and i can gurentee that you will break out the tissues at least once during the run of the series.
And a hell yes to the Shield, it def is not your typical cop show. read the review of the complete series for proof (and there are no spoilers in that review too)

Slayer has a great list there. I'd add Scrubs to it as it's hilarious, has enough of a thread that you want to keep watching to see what happens next and has a LOT of seasons.

Re: I need TV DVD Recommendations to lose weight!!
The original Mission Impossible would be a good one... the final season is going out in R1 this month (not sure about availability elsewhere though). Each eps is about 50mins so lots of time on the treadmill compared to modern shows (some of which don't even top 40min any more).
I haven't read the thread so maybe it was mentioned/rejected but if you like Sci-Fi Battlestar Galactica would be a good one. From there may Stargate (10 seasons worth there ) and Babylon5.

Re: I need TV DVD Recommendations to lose weight!!
30 minute sitcoms and reality shows work best for me since you don't really have to pay attention and they're entertaining enough.
At least with It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, How I Met Your Mother and Top Chef

I just finished Jericho S1 and S2 and really enjoyed it. Sleeper Cell is another often forgotten great show. I hear Sons of Anarchy is good too.
Of course, The Shield is top notch. It is so addicting. |
