Sweet. Even though his show is largely scripted, it's still entertaining.

Cool! This is good news. Although I've switched teams and become a Survivorman fanboy, I still love me some Bear.

To get my "Survivalist fix" I've been watching episodes of a BBC program called Bushcraft, with Ray Mears. You can find them... somewhere.

I like Surivorman a lot more now than I did a few months ago.

Survirorman has picked up, but I still think it is severely lacking in the entertainment department.

Anyone saw the Behind the Scenes for Survivorman. That was good. I actually like Survivorman somewhat now.

"Man vs Wild" now has a disclaimer at the beginning of each episode. Also, in the Scotland episode, new narration has been added that tells us that the rabbit was placed there by the producers, and was not in fact caught in Bear's trap.

Finally. I've been waiting for this show to come back. I always thought Man vs wild was a far more entertaining show then Survivorman. I thought the whole controversy concerning the actual reality of the show was a non-issue.

I just watched the episode last night and I noticed how they "edited out" Bear finding the rabbit in the snare.

I used to love Man vs. Wild, and it wasn't until the controversy that I even knew Survivorman existed. I have since watched every episode of Survivorman several times and moved onto the much more mellow and instructional BBC show, Ray Mears' Bushcraft. Regardless I agreed with the "it's more entertaining" argument and looked forward to watching it again.

Maybe the controversy tainted my view subconsciously, or maybe I just got used to Survivorman's more laid back "realistic" approach, but I didn't enjoy last nights episode at all. I found myself looking for mistakes more than anything. I think this show will not last unless they make some format changes. I'll keep watching as long as it lasts, though, just not with the same enjoyment.

In the "Iceland" episode, he now says that the sheep was placed there by a farmer.

Edited show revelations

The following are revelations that have been made through the editing process. After a series of exposes, Discovery pulled the old episodes of Man vs Wild, edited them, and brought the show back with a disclaimer. From the editing, the following (very incomplete) list of changes has been revealed.

Season 2

Everglades

* States that with the help of "the crew", he is able to build the shelter in the tree above the water.

Iceland

* Admits dead sheep has been placed for him by a local farmer.
* Edited so that he doesn't claim to have "caught" a ptarmigan.
* Did not spend night outside

Mexico

* Admits trout have been placed downstream from him.
* Receives help making his 50 foot of rope from "the crew."
* Admits to using a "technical harness" on a supposed free climb.

Ecuador

* Receives help building ladder.
* Entire scene of him "sleeping" outdoors cut because he actually "spent the night indoors".

Scotland

* Sleeping with the deer skin has been removed; he admits he will not be sleeping in the wild immediately before finding the dead deer.
* Redacted claim that the deer had fallen down the cliff.
* Admits he did not actually catch the rabbit in his snare.
* Admits he will not be staying on the second night, only that he will show how to build a shelter.
* Admits being close to civilization
