Arya is one of my favs for sure. When people kept bitching about AFFC not having any of the best POV's I was always like "but it has Arya and Jaime".

And yeah Tamzin Merchant is kind of funny looking. I guess you can chalk it up to years of Targaryen inbreeding.

Every time I hear more news about this series, I have to make a conscious effort to keep my expectations from becoming unreasonably high. For instance, when I saw this thread had been bumped, my thought process went something like this:

ZOMG!!!! NEWS ON THE ICE AND FIRE SERIES!!! I HOPE IT'S GOOD NEWS!!! THIS SERIES IS GOING TO BE SO AWESOME!!! I CAN'T WAIT FOR IT TO START AIRING!!!! THIS WILL BE THE BEST SERIES EVER!!!!

Must ... have ... reasonable ... expectations.

Same here, it's my all-time favorite series of books. But usually as I am totally guy whenever casting is announced of things I like, I bitch & moan & say how horrible the casting is (RR as Green Lantern for example), but so far, every announcement made for this series has been pretty awesome. No misteps, so I am really hoping this series keeps moving foward.

I don't see how your expectations aren't through the roof for this thing??? The casting has been nothing short of star studded brilliance. Couple that with David Benioff and I just don't see how this show could fail....well, except the $100 million price tag this show's gotta be fetching.

I don't think this book can be made in to a tv series that will be near as great as the books. Even if it is good I'll probably won't be able to except the changes they will be forced to make. Kind of llike I how the Harry Potter movies got worst for me as changes started racking up with each movie.

I can easily see someone become a fan favorite and the producer not allowing they to die like the gay guy on trueblood even though he died in the book. On the other hand I like trueblood and some other tv shows made into movies. I just think changes in story will annoy more for this series of books more than others since I loved the books.

I can only speak for the pilot but the changes are very minimal. It also doesn't have to be a word for word remake to be awesome.

Actually HBO has learned their less with crazy expensive series. Apparently filming on location for this one had a hefty pilot investment but should run them probably around $40 mil a season, which is on par with "True Blood" although "Fire and Ice" will only be getting 10-episode seasons so its a little pricier.

According to someone's comments on an article that I saw...

She's not in the book, if that's what you mean. She's a one-scene character who appears in a newly-written Tyrion scene in King's Landing before the court leaves for Winterfell. Her function is to provide exposition, and had about eight or so lines. Once her scene is done, she isn't heard from again. Probably why she doesn't even merit a name.

Wouldn't the arrival of the royal court at Winterfell provide plenty of exposition opportunities?
