Buddy in the church had me
The scene when Julie came home and tells her parents how much she loves them and he just has the dumb smile on his face and she realizes something's wrong was great as well.

I wish the Street family would've been given some line about insurance: "we don't have any" or "they aren't paying enough" or something. I kept asking myself about it the entire episode.

Yup, pulled for a repeat next week. In the promo, it said 'NBC Wednesdays', not 'NBC Next Wednesday'.
Anyway, another solid episode last night. Great scene between Street and Coach at the carnival...not a single word was spoken yet it spoke a thousand words.

Love how they are playing out the lawsuit. I just hope they stick to realism and not have a trial immediately. Let it play out over the course of months.
Buddy was great in this one.

I didn't think Jason would go along with the lawsuit so readily. I can maybe understand the parents going after the school (deep pockets) if they have no insurance, though even that's a stretch--but the coach? Decent storyline regardless, since America is sue-happy and I can see how it would really turn people against them...

I'm wondering if... like some, if not most nurses.. Football coaches get separate insurance?
There's an interesting deleted scene on NBC.com. Coach and a lawyer talking about the school not protecting him.

This episdoe felt a little thin to me, they quickly resolved the father/iraq issue, and look to be setting up the next few weeks.
Nonetheless, love the show and am rooting hard for a season #2

I agree with you about the fast way they seemed to wrap up the father's storyline... I'm also wondering why he just can't request that he stay stateside? If he could request to be discharged because of his ailing mother, then why can't he request that he be stationed in Texas?
I also think that after the town bans together and helps out Jason and Matt.. they should all chip in and get their favorite HS football coach a bigger Tv.
Every time I see that Tv, I cringe. I know they're trying to hone in on the fact that HSFC's don't make a ton of money... but the wife is now working and I'm sure she paid for that new A/C by now... so let's get a new Tv w/ a larger screen.. doesn't have to be 42 inches.. but at least 25?

Dallas is a big city.. I'm wondering what a coach from a small town like the fictional Dillon would make?
I was cracking up when after the guy served the coach and starts to walk away then had the nerve to ask about the playoffs. OY!
Loved how Buddy Garrity blew off two customers when Dillon's QB1, Matt walked into his showroom... I thought he was going to ask for an autograph or have his picture taken with him w/ his dealership as a backdrop.
Another great scene was when CT and the wife were sitting watching tv and the daughter comes in and tells them that she loves them.. he sits there all proud and smug, thinking she's the best daughter a guy could ask for... the mother knows in a second that something is very wrong.

We pay our high school football coaches, period
The football coach for Odessa Permain, the school in which Dillon is intended to portray, made $92,000 in 2004:

How many regular season games did they have? Seemed like only 5 or 6. And what happens after the playoffs are over...will it be the end of the TV season, and next season will start with the next football season? Or will the show go on during the offseason quite for a bit?

I assume you play 10 regular season give or take 1. You didn't see every one.
I believe the Texas state playoffs at high levels: 5A and 4A involve 64 teams so that would be 6 more games, so if they go all the way (win/lose title game), they can easily stretch those out over the rest of S1.
