Come on, his interrupting them was a joke, referencing the already mentioned length of their songs. Not to mention it is hardly the first time they've played Tom Sawyer live, and Alex's guitar tone was shit anyway.

well, of course he interrupts during the big fills. they did the overhead for the first one and then Colbert ran out. Kinda ruined it for me (no big deal , though). Also, I'm pretty sure Rush were in on it.

Re: The Colbert Report
A quick Google search revealed few answers. Some are speculating that it's related to his SuperPAC...

Where do you see anything having to do with his SuperPAC? Every article just says the same thing as my post said. The lack info on this is interesting as even when Daily Show canceled, they had given reasons right away.

Nice link. One of the top headlines is "Could This Gay Male Twin Fuck Story Possibly Be Real?"
Anyway, speculation from comments on the article is that his mother is ill.

Well, final week of the show. No idea if he has any special plans for the week, though it doesn't look like he has any extra-special guests this week, except for what seems to be the Grim Reaper on Thursday.
I do have to say that his "interview" with Smaug last week was fucking brilliant:
And here's a great piece with 49 celebrities reminiscing about Colbert, being on his show and his "character". Good stuff!

Yes, to both questions. At the end of show tag, he rattled off a huge list of names to thank, including Cumberbatch, Jackson and a whole bunch of people who I assume did the CGI work.

Colbert's show was far funnier in its first couple of years. His political schtick worked better when Bush was the President. He pulled far more punches against Democrats in power than Stewart ever had.

Re: The Colbert Report
In January of 2009 I was in line waiting to be let in as part of the audience for the CR and because i cued a bit late (still 60 minutes or so EARLY) I just didn't make it and was sent home, along with around 30 other people.
It was also the day of the inauguration of Barack Obama. Almost forgot about that. Priorities.
Even though I didn't make it into the show I still fondly remember that day, mostly being snowed on while standing in cue. Captain "Sully" Sullenberger had just landed his Airbus in the Hudson - didn't get to see that EITHER!
So, I guess, we'll meet again. Don't know where, don't know when.
