The Wire - "Refugees" - 10/01/06 (and on Demand)

'Refugees'
Spoiler:
With Freamon and Greggs moved to Homicide, Herc and Dozerman join Marimow in the stripped-down Major Crimes Unit. Cutty gets a "custodial" job at Tilghman School mopping up truants, but can't make headway in his efforts to mentor Michael. Bubbles gives Sherrod an ultimatum in an effort to get him back in school as a "socially promoted" 8th grader. Burrell finds a way to sabotage the state-witness murder investigation before the election, a plan that directly impacts Greggs. Prez's struggles in class continue; Bodie finds himself working for a new "company"; Colvin pitches his pilot program to the school; Carcetti meets with a constituency he knows won't support him; Randy faces a dilemma after being busted for his candy scam; Marlo is schooled in poker; Royce antes up in a game he can't lose; and Proposition Joe plays Marlo in a high-stakes heist.

"Omar ain't no terroist, he's just another nigga with a gun. And you ain't no Delta airlines neither, you just a nigga who got their shit took"

Pretty good episode.

Looks like it will be a battle between Cutty and Marlo for Michael.

Loved the bar scene with Lester and Bunk.

is marlow part of the co-op w/ prop joe now? i couldn't tell.. prop joe talked to him about it and how in case someone attacks marlow and his crew the co-op would be there..and marlow shook his hand?

then prop joe tells omar about the card game?

was prop joe setting up omar, or was he using omar to mess w/ marlow - but i thought marlow and prop joe are together in the co-op now? or was it to push marlow into joining the co-op after this

No Marlo is not part of the co-op because he believed himself untouchable. Which is why Joe put Omar on his ass.

Quote:
At Marlo's pigeon coop, Proposition Joe makes a case for him to join the New Day Co-op - the consortium of citywide dealers. He lays out the benefits of "standing together": good quality drugs always available at the best wholesale prices, lawyer and bondsmen on hand, shared information...and "no one f**ks with you." "No one f**ks with me now," Marlo shoots back, before thanking Joe for his time and sending him away.

Also anyone know where I can see the preview for the next episode? My DVR cut it off.

Marlo never joined the co-op. Prop Joe was trying to reach out again, and quickly got dismissed - "Nobodies messing with me NOW." Joe was going to see if he could help the now out a little.

What does Omar give a fuck? He got paid and took drug dealer money, all he cared about is that it wasnt an ambush

Yeah I'm sure Omar couldn't care less if Joe had ulterior motives.

I loved Marlow's line "Wear it in Health" as he Gave Omar the ring.

My question is did Marlow order Chris and Snoop to take out the security guard? Or did Chris take it upon himself after seeing the altercation.

I suspect that will be the thing that finally lets the cops figure out where the bodies are.

What was the line from Omar? "Nobody owns money. Money only has spenders" or something like that. Classic.

I'm finally starting to catch up now, this is far and away the best show out there, the cast is perfect in every role. from Omar to Marlo to the kids they cast this season.
Not a fan of Snoop, but she's pretty menacing, I do like Chris, he seems totally in charge of his shit. 4 more eps and I'm caught up, that will be this weekends viewing..

I guess IT would not surprise you then that Snoop in real life has spent time in jail. she talked about it on one of the docs. on HBO before the season started.
