How come Hurley hasn't lost an ounce of weight on "Lost"?

It's been a month of eating virtually nothing, shouldn't he be losing significant amounts of weight?

I mean you can see the loss of the participants on "Survivor", so wouldn't Hurley losing in real life to remain true to the show be something that should have been executed and how could it be explained otherwise?

He's said on the show that he's lost a lot of weight. I agree that it doesn't show, but I guess it's one of those things you have to overlook. Kinda like how the dudes don't have thick beards and the ladies don't have hairy legs or armpits.

Hurley hasn't lost weight for the same reason Walt's going to age a lot faster than the adults. Of course, 3000 calories of fish and berries is still 3000 calories.

He is down a notch on his belt, which he mentioned a fair amount of episodes ago.

The Skipper never got any skinnier, and he was marooned for fifteen years.

Well there have been a few deaths prior to Boone, right? Maybe he figured "why let all that good meat go to waste?"

I heard that he isn't losing weight because he isn't getting paid enough.

A better question: 43 survivors and yet only about a dozen actually do anything worthwhile? What the hell are these other 30 yahoos doing? Why do they only show up when someone dies or has a baby?

I understand the nature of tv casts, regulars and whatnot. But at the same time, it wouldn't hurt to include one of these random people in something eventful every once in awhile (other than simply being 'red shirts').

They've shown Jack and I think some one else shaving while on the island.

It's called holding back in case you need to bring a big name onboard to shake things up.

Hurley is eating all the boar meat that Locke catches for the group. Everyone know boar meat are filled with a lot of fat. That's why Hurley is not loosing as much weight as we think he should be loosing.

He then told Charlie not to expect to be able to give him piggy back rides anytime soon.

I'm not sure, but I think it might have something to do with the fact that it's just a TV show, and the actors themselves are not actually stranded on an island.

I think the cliffhanger ends with Hurley approaching Claire, speaking in a Scottish accent, saying "I'm gonna eat yer baby!"

Can you by sight tell the difference between 650 and 600 lbs?

How about 175 and 125?

Would have been funny if they had hired a skinny actor to play Hurly, then filmed episodes in reverse order, so the actor could have time to pork out.

Actually filming in reverse order would be a great idea, if only to force the writers to have a firm storyline, instead of making it up as they go.

I remember an interview with the writers that mentioned that Hurley isn't going to look radically different or emaciated anytime soon, because even with all the episodes we've already seen, it's only been maybe a month since they've been stranded. Don't have the exact number of days (I'm sure someone's tracking it) but every ep. seems to be about a day or so of time.
