Enterprise 02/11/05

Episode Title: "The Aenar"

Spoiler:
Continuing from last week's episode, "United," Andorian Commander Shran leads Archer to his frozen homeworld in search of the Aenar, a hidden, peace-loving race with tremendous psychic abilities, after discovering that one of the mysterious telepaths has been working with Romulans.

Meanwhile, Trip and T'Pol attempt to construct a device that will render the Romulans' remote-controlled ship useless and stop their swath of destruction in the region. Later, weary of the continuing friction with T'Pol, Trip comes to a surprising decision.

pretty good
I'll skip my harsh language directed at B&B, only because people are probably tired of seeing it

Thought this was a fairly good tie up for this arc. The Romulans weren't seen.

I have thoroughly enjoyed Jeffrey Combs portrayal of Shran, so many layers, such a complete character. Really good work.

Sorta suprised by Trip's request.

It was a good episode with a satisfying resolution.

Is Andoria a moon?

I've really been satisfied with most of this season. What a shame that the plug is being pulled now.

I'm not sure if that was actually Andoria or one of it's moons. It seemed like the Aenar were underground and fairly easy to find now so it would make more sense that they just found them 50 years ago if it was on another celestial body. I think Andoria itself was the ringed-planet.

I thought he said the Aenars were found in a remote region of Andoria and Archer did say to set a course for Andoria. The ringed planet appeared to be a gas giant which couldn't have the icy surface we've been told about.

Was a good episode last night.

Looks like Shran and the Aenar chick might have had a little somethin goin on.

Too bad this show is ending on a fairly strong season.
Promo at the end of the show requested viewers to tune into the "final" Enterprise shows.

I was also confused about whether Andoria was the moon or the planet, but now that I think about it, Damfino's probably right--the ringed planet was probably a gas giant, meaning no surface, so it's gotta be the moon.

I really like Shran. When I saw him in the Starfleet polar gear, I thought, "Hey, he lost his ship--he could become a member of the crew! An advisor or observer or whatever T'Pol's supposed to be." Doesn't look like that's gonna happen now, thanks to UPN.

Too bad we had to wait about 40 years after their first appearance for the Andorian race to get fleshed out. They're only about 50 times more interesting than Bajorans.

I laughed at the end when Shran said "You may not see me for a while. When a captain loses a ship, they don't hand him another one very quickly." He ought to join Starfleet then! No matter how many ships you lose, they'll just give you another one!"

Not bad for a cave episode.

I hope they have time to finish the "beginning of the Federation" stroyline before the season/series finishes, although I doubt it.

Fantastic episode. One of my favorites this season. If the Emmy's had any respect for Sci-fi they'd nominate Jeffrey Combs. Terrific work by him.

Why would the ringed planet have to be a gas giant? The planet in Star Wars 2 had a ring but it was a solid planet. I think it was blue since the planet is covered in ice. Shran said the planet's polulation lives under the ice and he didn't see the sky until he was a teenager. I think the blue planet was Andoria itself.

wow! the episode was so good I didn't even realize there was a cave.

I'm hoping the series ends with the creation of the Federation. They still have time to work that into the last episode.

something in the back of my mind says that only gas giants can have rings, but I don't recall the reason why.

nothing like one huge finger(the middle one) to continuity to tie up a show full of them

Really liked the new episode, and for a show that has takin more beatings than Rocky I 'm glad their going out with a solid season. Though most will say Enterprise was never any good (I disagree), the Andorian's were done very well.

I don't think I'd look to Star Wars for my astronomy knowledge...

Not that Trek has ever strived for much scientific realism either. I suppose it's possible for a solid planet to have rings, but right now all we have to go on are the planets in our own solar system, and of them, all 3 ringed planets are gas giants.

Yeah, they just went into production on the episode after that. The spoilers are already out for the next two episodes. I haven't read them yet, but there's a two episode arc ("Demons" and "Terra Prime") and then the finale.
