It's my favorite genre show on TV right now, but that's not saying much...
Last season just wasn't the same without you-know-who. Glad they're back for good.
So I guess, in retrospect, last season will be the weird year. Kinda like Dr. Pulaski.

I liked the lowdown also.. Teal'c was definately funny... Like when he went into Michael Schanks' trailer and jumped on him in bed to wake him up.. he's totally not like his character...
I'm looking forward to Season 7...

Certainly was a good start to the seventh season, except:
--Daniel is recovering his memory too quickly.
--Very disappointed that Jonas had to leave the show. I knew he was either going to die or remain on his home planet as soon as his name didn't pop up in the main open credits.

I love Stargate SG-1 and all, but have they made O'Neill a little too flippant now? Of course, he was flippant since the beginning (and increasingly so as the seasons progressed), but for some reason it finally started to annoy me in the season premiere.
Not to mention it seems to have spread to Daniel on his return.
or maybe the remarks were just badly timed? Either way, although as the viewer you know nothing is going to happen to the main characters, it's not good when the characters start ACTING like nothing is going to happen to them. I think that's probably what bothered me in the two-hour premiere.
Also sad to see Jonas leave the show as well - to be honest, I was never thrilled by the whole Daniel Jackson/Ancients storyline, so his return is a little "blah" to me.
Anyway, loved the Lowdown show. Lowdown = more Amanda Tapping

With "Rick" naturally being such a smart-ass, with him being one of the head honchos, and with them all having been been there so long, they've gotten very relaxed and casual with the one-liners. Lots of improv and actor-added stuff...
I do love the comedy, I think this show does that part very well compared, say, to the stiff humor of TNG, but I agree that sometimes they go too far with the "hey-it's-all-just-a-TV-show" stuff...
Amanda and Chris Judge were both hilarious on the docu...

I'd like to know that as well.
My guess: in the docu, he said he took the character as far as he thought he could (never mind the fact he had multiple guest-shots last year). But between the fan outcry to bring him back and the lack of a paycheck (just a guess there ), he decided to join the cast again.

So what is the behind-the-scenes story with Michael Shanks? Why did he leave for a year only to return to the show? Was it artistic yearning or simple money?

Shanks hated, hated the NID storylines, and thought that the show was getting too far away from real sci-fi. He thought of Jackson and the team as explorers, and thought they weren't really exploring anymore.
He and Richard Dean Anderson came to a supposedly very friendly mutual decision... for Jackson to leave the team as a regular, although Shanks still had a slot in any future movies, might do guest spots, and would continue to provide the voice of Thor.
I guess they were surprised by the fan reaction... For that or some other reason, they changed their minds again.

Bump to the 9:00 time slot (with Tremors as a lead in??).
Big buck$ being spent ($100k on a model to blow up??). Plus, lotsa SPFX.
I think Sam is quite a bit too smart for the target audience (female airhead) that You Know Who is looking for.
Blowing things up. A lot. Definitely not female airhead target material.
Loved the Lowdown show.
Amanda.

I think of all that special material they created for ST-TOS, (15-20 minutes of great interviews for each episode, Shatner & Nimoy each hosting a run of the whole series) and it makes me sad that it'll probably never see the light of day again...

The two-hour premiere of Sci Fi's "Stargate SG-1" scored a stellar 1.9 rating in households, delivering 2.43 million viewers. That makes the seventh season bow the most watched episode of the series to date, not to mention the most watched season premiere in the history of the channel and the most watched June telecast ever for Sci Fi. More importantly, "Stargate" came in at number one for the day in both persons 18-49 (1.35) and persons 25-54 (1.55) among all the basic-cable networks.
Well, at least one of the shows I like(d) on Sci-Fi continues to get good ratings.
Unfortunately, we're now down to only one......
