Cartoon Network announces their "Giant Robot Week" schedule

From AnimeNation.com:

"With a shocking and unexpected announcement, the Cartoon Network has confirmed plans to broadcast episodes of Evangelion, Nadesico, Dai-Guard, and Robotech during Toonami's "Giant Robot Week" of February 24 - 28. Considering that these shows will be aired in the 4-5 PM timeslot on a network that seemingly believed it necessary to alter the title of Candidate for Goddess to "Pilot Candidate" to avoid religious suggestion, there's no telling how much or how little especially the violence and Christian symbolism filled Evangelion will be edited for its Cartoon Network broadcast."

Schedule:

2/24
4:00 EST: Nadesico
4:30 EST: Neon Genesis Evangelion

2/25
4:00 EST: Nadesico
4:30 EST: Neon Genesis Evangelion

2/26
4:00 EST: Nadesico
4:30 EST: Robotech

2/27
4:00 EST: Dai-Guard
4:30 EST: Robotech

2/28
4:00 EST: Dai-Guard
4:30 EST: Robotech

Oh boy.. I can't wait to see how hacked up NGE is. Considering the time slot and the nature of the series, CN is taking a major risk in doing this. The first two episodes are not even that bad (compared to later episodes of course), but you never know what they'll try to edit.

Cartoon Network will also air The Iron Giant on the 28th at 8 EST.

Before I scrolled down, I was just about to wonder out loud just what you did... how horribly hacked up Evangelion will be. I may just watch it for the train wreck it's going to be.

Are they going to show episodes 1+2 of Evangelion, or other episodes?

It's just the first two for now. I doubt we'll get more than that though.
