Buffy - Looks like it's over

Author: Michael Hinman
Date: 01-29-2003
Source: SyFy Portal

A source close to Fox Television, which produces "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" for UPN, has told SyFy Portal that the Joss Whedon show will not return for an eighth season on the network.

"There is a whole different attitude at UPN right now, and it's not the same attitude that first brought 'Buffy' to the network in the first place," the source said. "(Les) Moonves wants ratings winners, and nothing else. It is believed around here that if Moonves had been running UPN two years ago, 'Buffy' never would've been there in the first place."

Can't say I'm surprised. From the what I've been reading, it sounds like Sarah and Joss both wanted out. (Read an interview or something where Joss seemed to indicate he wanted S7 to be the final season.)

I'm actually sort of relieved. I'd rather see a show bow out gracefully than overstay its welcome. *cough*X-Files*cough*

Hopefully, its soon enough that they'll be able to have some sort of closure to the series.

I will miss it.. The show will live on on dvd and in our hearts. Would love to see a spinoff with Xander as a watcher though.

They seem to have spent most of this season setting up a spin-off (at the cost of making it suck), so i think the franchise will go on elsewhere.

Well, it's still an impressive feat to go from a crappy B-movie to a hit series lasting 7 seasons. Too bad it was fairly unappriciated (especially by Emmy voters) through it's run.

END IT WHILE THEY ARE AHEAD! (Hear that Rick Berman and Chris Carter).
I still love the show but would rather see it go after this season. They are starting to stretch themselves think.
I just hope they tie the Buffy/Angel angle up.

The two things I would like to be dealt with is Buffy finding out about Angel and Cordy and Angel finding out about Buffy and Spike. Thats a whole hour in it self.
Plus Buffys reaction to Angel having a baby with Darla.

So is this the last season for both of them(Buffy and Angel)? Which one ends first with its finale?

Sounds definately like a final season for Buffy, but maybe not for Angel. (Well, I sure hope not.) The only thing for certain is that the actress who plays Anya will be leaving at the end of the season. Hopefully, they won't kill her off.

Xander a new watcher? Why not?
