Gilmore Girls: Beginnings - first season reruns on WB Sundays, starts 9/15

If you missed out on the first season of Gilmore Girls like I did, the WB will be running the first season of the show on Sundays at 7 PM Eastern / 6 PM Central, starting Sept. 15.

Yes, it's the WB, but this is a quality show, so I encourage anyone who's never heard of the Girls to check it out.

I've done seen them all but hey nothing else is on at that time, why not. Should work well for WB, they did the same thing with 7th Heaven & now that's their top rated show.

I've actually seen them all, but I would still watch them all.

I also was reading that they are doing the same with "Smallville" and "Everwood", and repeats of the previous week's episodes will be shown at 5 and 6 PM, before the GG repeats. Interesting idea...I don't think other networks start Sunday night TV that early...

I came in about half way through season 1 and I was able to catch most of Season 1's episode, I still haven't seen the first two, so this will be a treat for me.

I'm not sure if this is national or not (but I'm guessing it is since it has the same start date as Gilmore Girls: Beginnings) but here in Chicago next Sunday they're airing the first two episodes of Smallville season 1. Good deal for me since I've been trying to catch up on episodes all summer.

7th Heaven is the WB's top rated show?! Are you serious?

Strange but true. Scanning the weekly ratings in "Daily Variety", it is almost always the top rated show, with I *think* "Reba", right behind. "Gilmore Girls" gets good ratings (for the WB at least) and usually beats out "Buffy". That was last season, though.

7th Heaven has been WB's top rated show for most of its entire run. Higher rated than Smallville, GG, and even Buffy when it was on WB.

This will be Season 3 for GG. Rory should be a junior this year, and at the end of Season 4, Rory will probably find a way to get into Harvard (or maybe not...)

Uhm was that a diss to the WB in the first post? (Yes it's the WB but this is a quality show). Excuse me... Buffy... The People's Court... the Frog rules!

What season is on now? Second, or are they further along? This is one I'm picking up this Fall.

No, it's not a diss... I like Buffy (even though it's on UPN now), I liked Dawson's for a while until I quit following it, Smallville isn't half bad, Roswell was alright, and I love Gilmore Girls... I just know some people are like, "WB? No, thanks."

Your "season?" question is answered earlier in the thread.

And pics are nice, but too many pics will make 56K modems cry. Linkifying.

Since getting the TiVo (and then a second one that is unused until the new seasons start), I don't really care what stations things are at as long as they show. If you show it, it will record (a la if you build it, they will come ). I wasn't really into T.V. until I got the TiVo. Sigh how am I going to do about Season 2? I guess I'll pick this up as it re-runs. I wish F/X would stop doing X-Files and start re-running other series.

I love Gilmore Girls and even though I've already seen all of the Season One episodes, I'll watch them again.

Oooh, it's on right now. (in the West Coast, of course)

Just an interesting side note, at the begining of the show, they play "There She Goes" (by the Beatles?), but the captions have the lyrics to Sheryl Crow's "Everyday is a Winding Road".

It's been a while since I've seen Luke's old diner though. Oooh.

They also re-did the theme, sort of. Lauren Graham does an ok voiceover, but I didn't really like the change. I would have just preferred the original theme.

Doh! I forgot to set the VCR in time, and damned Charmed was on by the time I realized GG was on and then over. I guess I'll have to be satisfied with episode 2 next Sunday. I now have the VCR set up to record it!

I wasn't to thrilled with the voiceover....but I'll live with it, simply because this was the first time I had seen the first episode. Some pilot episodes really leave you wanting, but this one damn good....and now to catch the other 5 or 6 episodes I haven't seen.

It was such a pleasure to watch the pilot again - I had forgotten how fantastic even the very first episode of Gilmore Girls was. Not many shows start off as good as they remain - it is my favorite non-sci fi show of all time. Usually "regular" shows don't even come close to my ultimate sci fi shows - Buffy, Angel, Xena, and the fantastic Farscape being my all time faves.

But talk about quality - Gilmore Girls has had it from ep. 1, and consistently delivers laughs, angst, drama, and sweetness every week. If you missed the pilot, read up on the plot points and start watching next week!

I had never seen the pilot, so I really enjoyed watching it last night. It was really wonderful! The best part was that they ended with Yo La Tengo playing. It's fun seeing what they've changed.

Oh my gosh. I just got to watch part of the pilot episode. So good.

Rory: "You're happy..."
Lorelai: "Yup..."
Rory: "Did you do something slutty?"
Lorelai: "I'm not that happy!"

I heard about how the second season wasn't as good as the first... if the rest of the first season is as good as the little bit of the pilot that I watched, I will be blown away.

Is it me, or does Alexis Bledel act more in this episode than during season two? Sometimes in S2 her delivery just sounds dead... granted, that's how some teens talk... but the dialogue kicks so much butt that it carries the show.

Oh, and "There She Goes"... most definitely not by the Beatles. It was covered by Sixpence None The Richer, but I don't know who did the original. The Posies, I wanna say... but not sure.
