Buffy 11-5-02

I know it's early, but I wanted to start this week's discussion!

First question: this week's will be a new one right?

If yes, then I think we should expect some good episodes over the coming weeks. Obvious reason being that Fall Sweeps are starting, and they need to put out their best. With that in mind, I expect some leadway to be made with the "big bad" we saw in the season premiere, provided it is real and not some hallucination of Spike.

I do hope they'll do something with the opening slayers in training soon. It's kinna getting boring. I mean, killing in asia, killing in europe, so it's gonna go around the globe and back to the good old US of A?

This episode had very few redeeming qualities. As a whole, lame.

OK...I tried to show a little more enthusiasm for it after a bit. Still, the weakest episode of the season though.

Spoiler:
Too Dawncentric for my tastes.

Anya was tres excellente Spike, the strong silent type this time.

Whew! Almost lost another principal there for a moment

Dear lord, it was like the Buffybot was back but not nearly as funny.

I liked when Len or was it Lance? was mentioning RJ wrote poetry which earned an eyebrow raise from Spike.

His mom calling down to them "there's little boxes of raisins if you guys want snacks" reminded me of the scene from The Initiative where Xander's mom says to Giles and him:

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I made up a nice fruit punch for you and your friend. Would you boys like some?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Soundtrack was good. I would have liked to have seen RJ indeed turned into a girl if for only a brief moment

"I'm in the management program"

"...Geek-stuff. Oh sorry, Harris"

Anya does enjoy saying the word 'penis".

The method we're not supposed to discuss, Dr. Dvd, lol It does air in Canada on Monday evenings though so I figure I'm just keeping up with the Jones'!

It wasn't the best of the season, but it really picked up in the second half. The first half was pretty dreadful, and it seemed like it was going to be a retread of Superstar, but the last half hour was pretty entertaining. My favorite part was
Spoiler:
Willow planning to turn RJ into a girl. Also, even though he has a penis, Willow said that she could "work around it".

Buffy looked really hot last night, IMO.
Spoiler:
And I agree that it was much too much Dawn in the episode, but I was okay with her dancing at the Bronze. That kid is hot!

The funniest scenes to me were the one's involving Willow and Anya but other than that, it's as if everyone just showed up for their lines. RJ was so...abysmal.

*sigh* if 'hot' were the only criteria needed, most shows would be good, lol.

Superstar and
Spoiler:
Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered (even the flashback scene they put in)

I am finding this season that all the episodes that take place at Sunnydale High are just Lame. Concentrate on the principles and no new teen crappy teen additions.

Listen to this synopsis:

> Dawn develops a major crush on a hunky jock, which
> turns into a comic free-for-all when Buffy, then
> Anya
> and even Willow fall for the same guy. Thad
> Luckinbill
> ("The Young And The Restless") and musical artists
> The
> Breeders guest star.
>

Oh brother.

The wildfeed is available usually by 8 am Mondays PST and has a summary of the show (for folks like me that like spoilers).

I get my wildfeed at www.leoffonline.com (should be a bumper sticker LOL).

At least they acknowledged it by showing clips of the episode they were ripping off! The best scenes were the ones with Willow trying to justify her crush.

Maybe not the most compelling episode, but damn if it didn't make me laugh out loud a bunch of times....

This episode had me ready to strangle my cable company. The picture kept freezing, breaking up and pixelating, and the sound would sometimes go out when that happened. We missed a few lines of dialogue because of it, though I did get the gist of one of them from Leoff's wildfeed summary site mentioned above. UPN isn't even a digital cable channel here, so it's not reception problems on my end; they're sending the show out to everyone like that. Jerks.

I'm not sure if I liked this episode or not. It's strange to follow up the last one (which was so intense) with something this light and fluffy. I don't think I've seen Buffy that "peppy" in a long time. Some very funny stuff in there, though.

Man I was laughing so hard at the scene with Buffy and the bazooka. That was played brilliantly.

The first half hour was pretty lame, though.

After the episode about Anya a few weeks ago, I have to say that this is a few steps down from that. What a Dud. If I want to watch a show about teen angst, I'll watch My So Called Life.
Get on with the story already and the Big Bad.

I think this should be the last season when I watch episodes like this.

I laughed at loud in the beginning when Anya called Dawn pretty much useless. I don't know it just cracked me up. I was getting REALLY irritated in the first half over the Dawn focus. I was ready to turn off the show she annoyed me so much. Thank god the second half took a turn and got a little better, and Spike tackling Buffy was really hilarious.

One thing, Dawn has NO coordination for cheerleading, but can pull off that dance in the Bronze? Umm, sure.

OK. So it was not the best Buffy in awhile, but it is still better than no Buffy at all. I kind of enjoyed the episode, at least it did not make me want to turn it off.
Buffy looked good. Willow looked good and except for Dawn's make up while dancing, even she looked good. Even if she is "Useless".
