The Serpentor episodes are some of my favorites. It's good to see this again, maybe we wil see a DVD release soon. Some of my favorites growing up were mostly Cobras: Firefly, Storm Shadow, Croc Master, and Zandar
As for the Joes I did like Beachhead and Snake Eyes

Yo Joe!

Strange, just clicked onto this thread, saw the times, and realized it had just started. Now I'm watching the episode where the Tainted DNA Monster is created and Sergeant Slaughter is kicking his orange ass.

I hope it stays on CN, but it's not something I would tune in especially for, like Transformers or He-Man.

I was presently surprised when the started airing GI Joe again on CN. One of my favorite cartoons from the 80's next to the old Transformers. The one or two particular episodes I caught were pretty amusing. I forget the name but Shipwreck, i think that was his name (the guy with the parrot) was tripping out in some fake town after being almost drowned. The people started melting and he was going insane. What were those writers smoking when they thought of that?? haha

Actually the cartoon improved two figures. I remember not being interested in either Shipwreck or Bazooka as figures or their filecard bios, but when they were on the cartoon, I loved the characterizations. Shipwreck a wisecracking, Jack Nicholson, guy, and Bazooka a slow, but good natured, soldier plagued by bad luck... The two-parter where Shipwreck has the freak-out at teh fabricated town, complete with melting residents, was always a favorite.

I said this in the other Joe thread, but I always hated Cobra Commander on the cartoon, because befroe the cartoon, when I played GI Joe with my figures, my Cobra Comm was a badass leader of a terrorist organisation, not some whining wimp.

But then agian, before the cartoon, I was doctoring figures, wounding them, burning them, scarring them, making battle damage on my vehicles. I even created a Cobra Torture Chamber out of carboard boxes and such. So, the catroons, "No one really gets hurt" stuff never impressed me, but I still enjoyed it. I guess some kids needed it to be PC, but those of us dark kids already had a morbid, more realistic Joe Vs. Cobra universe going on anyway.

I really liked Snake Eyes and Flint. Snake Eyes was a badass ninja. I think I liked Flint because of his beret....my dad was Army Special Forces, so I have an affinity for berets (although Flint's was black, not green like SF). I also thought Beach Head was pretty cool (maybe cause he was a Ranger and his balaclava made him look kind of like a ninja).

I thought only the Green Berets unit of Army Special Forces wore green, and before they handed out black berets to everyone in the Army last year, the Rangers were the only ones to wear black berets and now they wear tan, which is stupid because they should have just given regular Army the tan berets and let the Rangers keep their black ones...I think this is how it went...but don't quote me on it

In regards to Snake Eyes, I think he was everyone's favorite character.

http://www.gijoe.com isn't too bad, though they don't have everyone in their database that I could find

Yeah, Special Forces wear green berets and Rangers (at the time) wore black berets. I didn't mean to imply that Flint was Special Forces. I just meant that I liked him because he wore a beret.

I think it's dumb that the Army made berets standard issue for everyone. Before that, berets were something to be earned, and given to elite soldiers like Special Forces (green), Rangers (black), and Airborne (maroon). I think making berets standard issue kind of takes away from that...and making Rangers wear tan berets seems stupid (although I must admit that I haven't seen the new tan berets). Does anyone know if Airborne are still given maroon berets?

www.joeheadquarters.com is a pretty good site for a list of characters.

How about the Baroness? She was like an update "Bullwinkle's" Natasha. Loved that accent!

Serpentor seemed like a badass at first, but became just another incompetent Cobra. And Tomax and Xamot, those evil twins. What was the deal with those two?

But come on, the nadir was Sgt. Slaughter. Why would G.I. Joe need someone on their team who was barely a second-string wrestler on the WWF? The mind boggles...

I knew of two kinds of people when I was younger. The G.I. Joe types and the Transformer types. I was a Transformer man all the way! Luckily, I didn't know of any He-Man types, 'cause that would've made me sad Same goes for Go-Bots...

I loved Transformers AND G.I. Joe! Go-Bots were pathetic as hell...

I liked He-Man, though not as much as Transformers or G.I. Joe. I also liked She-Ra cause I liked looking for the hidden character in every episode (can't remember his name).

I definitely remember a helicopter crash...which I think messed up Snake Eyes' vocal chords so he couldn't speak...and I think the crash might have disfigured him as well. I think he and Storm Shadow are sword brothers.

According to the comic book Stalker, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow all served in Vietnam together. During the war Snake Eyes' twin sister and parents were killed in a car accident. After returning home, Snake accepted an offer to enter Storm Shadow's "family business", which of course was a front for the ninja training dojo. The master sensei, the "Hard Master" was killed by Zartan ( Okay everyone else got that part of the story right so we'll skip to the part about his disfigurment). A few years later Snake Eyes, Rock N' Roll, Scarlett and Stalker were on a rescue mission in the Middle East (presumabley to rescue the 53 Americans being held hostage in Iran, but that was only "hinted" at). Now from what I remember, Scarlett got snagged on the helicopter door. When Snake Eyes went to free her, a fuel line ruptured spraying Snake Eyes across the face with flaming gasoline. The helicopter crashed and Snake carried Scarlett from the burning wreckage. That in a nutshell is how Snake Eyes donned the mask.

What ticked me off about G.I. Joe watching it now is how Cobra were a bunch of bumblers. In the first two mini series they were at least competent enough to be considered a threat.
I'm hoping that the first two mini series get released on DVD eventually.
