a SESAME STREET death
Hey, did you guys know that the guy who played the original Gordon on SESAME STREET (1969-1971) died last week?
MATT ROBINSON, who was the Gordon WITH hair, was 66. I don't know the cause of his death. Anyone?
I just found out while reading USA TODAY. His daughter, Holly Robinson Peete (who played Sally on the first SESAME STREET show), just had a baby, and the article remarked how this comes only a week after her father's death.
So, with Mr. Hooper and the original Gordon gone, that leaves only Bob and Susan as the remaining human cast members still alive from the very beginning...

Oscar became GREEN (without any explanation)
on the season premiere of S.S. in November of 1970.
He was ORANGE for only a year (1969-1970, the first year).

I know this is totally unrelating to Sesame Street but what was that PBS show that was Hispanic in nature, it had some infectious title song that went along the lines of "la la la la la la la la lala la. viva.... (something)"

La, lala, la, la, la, la, la, la, lala, la la!
Apparently from a discussion in a previous thread, this show was not aired on PBS nationwide but only selected markets. The show was on for TEN YEARS. I had NO idea! Aye carumba!

Bob and Susan are the only originals left? What about Luis and Maria? Have they died, or were they not original cast members?
I remember that David died some time ago, I think in the 80s.

Maria and Luis didn't come in til Season Premiere 1971 (which also saw the debuts of Charlotte Rae (as Molly the Maillady) and Raul Julia (as Rafael).
The original four humans were Bob, Gordon, Susan, and Mr Hooper.
David, Mr. Hooper's assistant, showed up in 1971 and left in 1989. He died of stomach cancer in 1990.
And I just found out that Matt Robinson, the original Gordon, died from complications from Parkinson's disease.

If I remember correctly, the original Gordon was also the father of Holly Robinson-Peete. She is probbably most famous for "21 Jump Street", but she recently had another series, a sitcom about couples.

I find that the cheapest way to get kid's DVD's is to go to
www.half.com
If you don't have any qualms about used DVD's, they usually have virtually any DVD movie that you can think of in stock.
Do search in half.com for "elmo" or "sesame" and see what you dig up.
I recommend: "Kid's Favorite Songs 2" with Elmo. My daughter and nephew love it. It's got the songs: "When you're happy and you know it" and "On top of spaghetti"

I'd say 10.00 is the usual range, give or take, for a kid's DVD.
Usually, you'll find them cheapest for 14.99 at Walmart or Target, so www.half.com ain't bad.
But a head's up-- with their shipping (which is cheap), it might take up to two weeks. It's worth it, though, IMO.
