"SMG" It was fake. They looked painted on but just my 1 cent...
I thought the show was one of the best in a long time....

I know they'll be running this on mtv ad nauseum, but does anyone have a re-airing time/date?

p.s. any 'd' performances?

Jack Black was great. What was with the suddenly serious Chris Tucker? What a downer......

Uh ... I don't see any doubt. The SMG thing was a parody, and as such, they had those hugely exagerated nipples in her dress. It was part of the joke.

dglaser6, negative on the 'D' unfortunately.

She doesn't look to excited to be there.
You really don't believe they are brother & sister do you?

Here's a copy of their marriage license:

I started watching them. Unfortunately I kept dozing off during the first hour and fell asleep sometime during the second hour. Guess I'll have to catch it on a rerun.

I have a question. When Mandy Moore was walking up to accept her award, and the camera panned to the audience, was that PUCK sitting there, with the hat on?????

How could anyone think SMG's nipples were real?

The White Stripes were/are married/divorced.

I thought Kelly Osbourne was pretty good. Obviously they're all cashing in on their new fame, etc. I didn't say she should get a record deal, but as a novice singing in front of a huge audience, I doubt anyone could do much better.

Was the White Stripes' performance sponsered by Target, or what? I kept waiting for the dog with the red spotted eye to run out and start humping Jack Black's leg.

I dunno, I thought they were pretty lame. The last one I remember being really funny was the Ben Stiller/Janeane Garafolo year. The whole "foley artists" skit and all.

Though it seemed that SMG was being a pretty good sport about everything, which was nice to see. She has a rep for being kind of a bitchy diva.

And I'm pretty sure Kelly Osbourne was lip-synching. I really was hoping that it wouldn't be, and it's scary shooting that close to someone's face when they are doing it, but there were at least two times where I don't think she got the mike back up to her face fast enough to cover it. And the sound was very even, but the mike was literally all over the place. Looked a bit fishy to me.

I thought they were pretty good. A couple of the awards choices REALLY annoyed me (especially Best Comedic Performance (BLEAH!) and Best Onscreen Team), but the rest were okay. Jack Black was funny as always, and SMG hot as always. LOVED that they did a song called "Movies kick ass". Didn't really notice that Kelly O. was/wasn't lip-synching, but she DID move the mike around a lot, which is usually a bad sign. Her performance was good, I thought and her voice wasn't bad at all. Eminem was his usual terrible self. Are all his songs about bagging on other artists? What a jackass.

Anyway, funnier than last year, but not as funny as Jeanine and Ben. That was a great year. Oh, and Martin L wasn't funny either.

I thought the show was quite hilarious, the parodies of spider-man, lord of the rings and the opening number "movies kick ass" just great.

The lord of the rings won best movie that was cool.

Natalie Portman and Nicole Kidman looked beautiful as always.

Natalie Portman sure, but to me, Nicole Kidman looked like she was participating in a Diane Keaton lookalike contest

Oh come on, isn't this supposed to be the year that we all root for Nicole Kidman because she's now such a strong, independent woman?
It's honestly gotten a little bit pukey.
I agree with both of you

Entertainment weekly said that there were lots of thechnical problems in the opening song and dance number. if there were any, then mtv did a hell of a job editing it all together.

This is why they covered up Jack Osbourne's tie:

Jack Black is one half of the band Tenacious D. A "d performance" would be.. a performance by tenacious D.
