Cool that it's going full screen like the S8, it makes for an aesthetically pleasing look.

I doubt it. That said, as somebody who came out strongly against the removal of the headphone jack on the 7, I haven't missed it.

Re: iPhone 8

Damn, with the expensive Note 8 and this thing, I guess they really want another tier of high end smart phones.

Re: iPhone 8

The rumor is a 7S will also be released and basically be a refresh of the current 7 design, right?

I'm more concerned about lack of Touch ID and the home button. Rumors seems to point Apple dropping them when they gotten embed them. Price will keep me away for now but I don't like the idea I might have to relearn the interface. I do like the idea of a bigger screen but not a much bigger phone than my 6S.

Same concern for me as well. Didn't I hear rumor of an optical/retinal ID thing? Having to not enter a password was the big reason I upgraded when that came out.

There is no retinal ID, but there will likely be facial recognition. Combine that with raise-to-wake and you have an instant-on, secure, hands-free phone. And I would bet that there is some kind of soft Home button in the new OS. It won't be a button you can use to wake the phone, but it will be something you can access to close an app. Most likely, it will be a "swipe-up" feature, as part of the control center.

I guess we'll all find out in less than 2 weeks.

So they're really going straight to 8, eh?
No 7S. Hmm.

I miss the headphone jack.
Give me a fatter phone, with more battery, and a headphone jack !

I don't need waterproofing as I do not swim, or shower with my phone.
Thank you for listening.

Re: iPhone 8

... And I'd much rather donate my $1000 to the Harvey relief fund than give Apple $1000 for a phone which probably costs them $200 to make.

Who needs a $1000 phone? It's not a NEED, it's a WANT, and ridiculously overpowered when a $100 phone SHOULD suit most people. It would, if Apple weren't so greedy, and the Apple fanatics weren't so ENTITLED.

Absurd rubbish...

Re: iPhone 8

I doubt anyone sees it as a need, but it's a popular want that Apple will make billions of dollars on. Reminds me of the Beats headphones which cost around $12 to make, yet change over $100 for them. But this our society today, people see value in spending $1k for a personal need rather than seeing what else it could go towards. Wouldn't it be nice if those big ass corporations could see that as well.

Re: iPhone 8

Besides the obviously different iPhone 8 (though rumors persist of it being called either iPhone X or iPhone Edtiion), we will see the iPhone 7S and 7S Plus models.

While on the surface (pun not intended here!) they look like the current iPhone 7 and 7 Plus models, the iPhone 7S will feature more RAM (3 GB), the new Apple A11 SoC, 64, 128 and 256 GB of local storage, and a glass back to support charging using a Qi-compatible charging pad.

I'm not a mod of this forum, but this is a clear threadcrap which is against forum rules. If you aren't interested on a topic, don't click on it.

Thanks guys. I'm happy with my 7+... although the lightning port seems to be a bit worn because my lightning plugs don't seem to stay in it very well. I have AC+, but I've never actually had to use it. I doubt my issue is enough to get a replacement...

Try gently cleaning it out with a paperclip. Lint gets stuck in there very easily.

This. I had the same problem and thought I would have to get warranty service. Checked the Google and it seems to be a common problem. I used a wooden toothpick because I didn't want to damage the metal connections. Surprised by the amount of lint lodged in the lighting port.
