2013 Dell XPS 8700 to Sony HTX1 Hook up

I have a 2017 Vizio 5.1 soundbar coming in this afternoon. Before that I have been using a Sony HTX1 Soundbar. I was using HDMI & Digital input for for sound.

I figure I would use the Sony HTX1 on my 2013 Dell XPS 8700 desktop computer. The Sony HTX1 has Digital, Analog & 3 Hdmi inputs. I have been using the green TRS 3.5mm stereo output on my computer to some computer speakers. I'm guessing my only option is to use a cable/connector on both ends to hook up to the analog input on the Sony soundbar?

Why not use HDMI? An image search shows that the desktop has HDMI output, and the Sony has HDMI pass-thru (unless your monitor doesn't support HDMI).

Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info. Shows how much I know about my Dell Computer. I been using a dvi to hdmi cable to hook up the comp to my mon. It's a LG 29" 21:9 UltraWide Mon with 2 hdmi inputs. I tried just hooking up hdmi cable from comp to Mon. It worked & sound was great except always have to turn sound up & down depending on what I was playing on the computer. Plus the monitor would only display 1920x1080 instead of 2560x1080 & had it sit to. I then went back to the dvi to hdmi hookup and hooked up the sound through analog. But I only get sound from the left speaker. I think I will sale it on CL or just give it to my brothers wife & she can use it on her hd tv.
