Re: iPhone 7

Probably isn't to the point yet where it makes sense, might even use a variety of nice fitness ear buds and the like.

I'm interested in a few features long rumored for the 7S, shame that's still a ways off.

Re: Iphone 7 features revealed

Just picked up a Note 5 to replace my 5s. Based on this, sounds like I made the right decision.

Not a fan of the Edge screen or paying full retail. Bought the 5 on eBay for about 1/3 the price of a new 7.

It is my understanding that Att did get rid of subsidized upgrades, but you can still do next or full retail, or buy from third party on the iphone and keep unlimited.

Awesome, thank for you for point those out. My wife and I are both upgrading to the 7, so spending $8 and change for 8 cases is great.

So, are those of us that use our headphones while the phone is charging are SOL?

I've been wondering this. My guess is the charger or headphones have a passthrough port for the other to connect through.

EDIT: I just saw an article that shows the earbuds are wireless. Not sure how to feel about that. One plus is no tangled cables, but minuses would be easier to lose and have to be charged.

If I get one I'll wind up with an adapter I'm sure.

I'm on AT&T and I'm not really sure what to do if I want the 7. I want to keep my 6 so I won't be trading anything in. Right now I'm off contract.

So if I go with AT&T Next, I just pay X amount per month for 30 months, but there's no actual service agreement? So let's say I want to move to Verizon in a year, I just have to pay off the balance of the phone?

I also see AT&T Next Every Year but I assume that costs more. This shit is giving me a headache.

Re: iPhone 7

So basically all the rumors were true. I'm not sure if I like the headphone thing, we'll see if I care to upgrade my work phone. Since I also have an Android phone, tablet, and other things I use the headphone jack on, keeping track of that dongle is going to be annoying.

Re: iPhone 7

$160 wireless earbuds that last 5 hours?

(I'm still seriously thinking about getting the 7S, though.)

It is a finance contract. You pay it over the term you you want, either 24 (next every year) or 30 (att next) months.

If you leave you just pay off the balance. Verizon will currently pay off your balance, up to $650 BUT, you would have to give them the phone and buy a new phone from them.

So basically no major carrier is willing to cover ~$450 of the phone cost to keep you anymore. Do I have that right?

I think that is right. But, you get cheaper service bills, so that's something.

Correct. Att and tmobile completely ditched contracts. Verizon still has contracts (not officially, but you can go in store to get one) BUT you would have to pay $20 /mo more for 2 years.

Verizon has some old plans that have subsidies bundled in, but, other than udp, none are really worth it as minutes, texts and data are all tiered, and would be very costly for unlimited minutes and texts, and data tiers are very expensive too.

I was thinking of a pass-thru as well. And wireless earphones wouldn't be too bad, but the issues you bring up are concerns of mine as well. I think I would prefer wired though.

It's not really cheaper... Just segregated. So say before it was $80 with subsidy ,now it is $60 without.

Hmm - I haven't seen anything cheaper yet but maybe I will next month since this is the end of my iPhone 6 24-month term. It was sound like I'd be paying the same monthly rate plus the phone cost which is what would make me balk at upgrading.

According to the info on apple's site, the ear buds included with the new 7's are wired, with a lightning connector instead of a headphone jack. Also included in the box is a headphone jack to lightning adapter. No mention of a pass thru connector. Yet anyway.

Pricing is up on the website as well for many of the purchase options.

Completely wireless though... Competition for a zero wire Bluetooth earphones are pretty slim, and expensive
