Another tip for fingerprint is to use the same orientation and position of the finger that you normally use to unlock. Like i set one when I hold it in my hand, and the other when I use the phone on my desk.

Re: iPhone 6

No problems with touch id here. I have a 6S Plus though.

I have 3 fingers registered. My two thumbs and my right index finger.

Re: iPhone 6

So I have the brightness set to max. Auto-brightness off. All of a sudden when I use my phone for a bit, the phone dims and is much less bright than max and harder to see. Is there some setting I'm missing? Anything I can do to keep full brightness? Thanks.

Re: iPhone 6

and then there is touch disease, so yes the iphone 6 is inherently defective

http://www.phonearena.com/news/More-...isease_id86366

I recently gave up on iphones completely (forced my kids to get rid of them) due to two of them having this touch disease problem and apple acting ignorant about it

but I guess if someone else's iphone works fine, this lawsuit is bullshit

This page suggests that the "auto lock" feature may cause the phone to dim.

Not defending them but...the deny tactic is used by many companies... I have had other smartphones with known problems and they claim ignorance.

Re: iPhone 6

I don't have autolock set, so that's not what's causing the issue.

Re: iPhone 6

My theory is it's from overheating. Mine has been doing it pretty much since I got it (iPhone 6s+). And it mostly happens when I have it in the cradle stuck to the windshield when driving with Waze on.
Even after coming inside, or putting it in the shade for awhile, it takes a little while to come back to full brightness.
I know it's not the Waze app, because I turned the Auto brightness off.
Occasionally it happens outside in the Summer.

Re: iPhone 6

Nope. Mine still does it, but infrequently. Maybe they're in cahoots with the guys who built your TV.

Re: iPhone 6

You can choose what gets backed up. I believe by default pictures are backed up.

An iTunes backup includes nearly all of your device's data and settings. An iTunes backup doesn't include:
  • Content from the iTunes and App Stores, or PDFs downloaded directly to iBooks (You can back up this content using Transfer Purchases in iTunes.)
  • Content synced from iTunes, like imported MP3s or CDs, videos, books, and photos
  • Photos already stored in the cloud, like My Photo Stream, and iCloud Photo Library
  • Touch ID settings
  • Apple Pay information and settings
  • Activity, Health, and Keychain data (To back up this content, you'll need to use Encrypted Backup in iTunes.)
So depending on what iCloud/Photo Steam settings you have turned on, an iTunes backup may not backup all photos on your iPhone.

Re: iPhone 6

Contemplating an iPhone for my teenage daughter. The newish IPhone SE is basically an iPhone 6 in the size of a 5, right? Although if I don't buy her the newest and greatest I imagine the whining will be unbearable.....

The SE is a 6S in the case of a 5S. Great phone if you don't want a larger device.

There are a few minor differences besides just the size. The front-facing camera isn't as good as the 6s, for example (although the same as the s). No 3D Touch on the SE, and the screen is lower resolution (cuz smaller screen), and slightly lower contrast.

More info:
https://www.cnet.com/how-to/iphone-s...e-6s-features/
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3...&idPhone3=7242

It's still a pretty solid phone.

Re: iPhone 6

My wife has the SE. She regrets getting it to replace her 5 or 5S (can't remember which), but as a 'first' phone, it's probably not a bad option...

To clarify, SE has the same dpi as the iPhone 6s/7. Resolution is lower simply due to smaller size. It isn't a lower dpi as in the case of the iPhone 7 plus and iPhone 7.

My wife has one, and if you want a small iPhone then this is as good as it gets. She had a iPhone 6 before and wanted the smaller size so went with the SE.

But honestly, don't go just for the price...cuz it's really small by today's standards. Better off getting a used 6 or 6s if money is a concern.

Re: iPhone 6

My 13 year old daughter has the regular 6 with 16 GB. She loves it, and it's the perfect size for her.

Re: iPhone 6

Thanks everyone! Still deciding. Her tantrum upon hearing that she might not be getting a 7 has me leaning towards a SE, or maybe my old iPhone 3.
