How fast is your internet speed?

know i saw a thread somewhere but couldn't find...

So I have been obsessed with speed for some reason. i had Verizon just a week ago in an old place and was getting:

about 1.5 Mbps download & <.30 upload

it was terrible. now with new, great place i had to get Optimum and am getting the Ultra 50, so i figured something near or around 50, but actually getting more. wanted to see how this compares to nation...:

so my question really is is it fast? how does it compare to all you all?

**edit*** holy shit. just saw it does compare the nation. duh!

Re: How fast is your internet speed?

Yeah, it's really fast.

This is what i have, and it works just fine for my purposes, which include online gaming. My provider offers more for a premium price, but I haven't found any need to upgrade.

Yep, same for me.

Re: How fast is your internet speed?

This is pretty average for me. I think my highest result was around 35 Mbps. But sometimes during prime time hours it can slow down to 12-15 Mbps.

Re: How fast is your internet speed?

Did you have verizon dsl? I had it too before and it was bad. They wanted me to pay almost $40 for 1mbps. I am using cable now, $30 for 15mbps. As for mobile, Verizon:

10 Mbps DL / 1 Mbps UL. $50 from Brighthouse. But with cable tv package, it's $110.

Mine's pretty basic with AT&T U-Verse. I don't do that much special except for some gaming, and it's perfectly fine for that.

I pay $43 for mine with Time Warner. It's good enough for my needs on Hulu, Netflix and basic web surfing. I get decent DL time on my on demand items from Directv as well.

I pay for 50mpbs but as I've ranted before, Comcast is terrible where I live.

When I wasn't on the 50mpbs plan I was getting about 1 meg up.

Re: How fast is your internet speed?

I'm happy with the speed and service. For Canadians, Rogers is not the greatest but I'm happy with my internet service. I have an unlimited package in which I use to stream Netflix, Hulu Plus, PS3 and internet for $55 per month.

Pretty much the same results.

Meets my needs as well: Call of Duty MP, Netflix and Hulu+, and web surfing. Not sure I'd even notice an improvement with an upgrade.

Re: How fast is your internet speed?

Are you using a docsis 3 modem with 8 bonded downstream channels?

It's a DOCSIS 3.0 modem that Comcast gave me to use specifically for the Blast! package.

My model is UBEE u10c035. I'm not sure if it has 8 bonded downstream channels.

I don't have Comcast, but does Comcast support Motorola cable modems? If so, I highly recommend:

http://www.amazon.com/ARRIS-Motorola...otorola+sb6141

Once I got Cox to provision my account and upload the modem firmware, the SB6141 has been a champ.

I have 50 mbps down/10 mbps up. However, I get Cox is a lot better than Comcast.

They do and this is the one I upgraded to when it had to be DOCSIS 3.0 (which is the older model of that one)

I had the SB6120 since 2010. When I got all new networking equipment back in July, I also upgraded my modem too.

The big difference between the SB6121 and SB6141 is that the SB6141 can bond eight downstream channels and four upstream channels (84) whereas the 6121 only supports four-channel bonding (44) both ways. However, the cable company has to also be able to support bonding of 8x4 which I know some don't. Cox, thankfully, does.

Re: How fast is your internet speed?

Comcast does support Motorola modems as I had one last year before I dropped them. I may invest in buying my own instead of renting but for now its moot as the Motorola modem I had last year didn't make much of a difference in terms of speed.

The problem is I live in a large apartment complex and with the way the wiring is configured outside it's going to be near impossible for me to tap out at their promised speeds.

I'm moving early next year so hopefully the situation will remedy itself.

Re: How fast is your internet speed?

I'm perfectly happy with our service, for now, but we have such terrible TV-provider monopolies here in Canada that one has to call at contract's end and haggle for the best price. Right now, we get fiber-optic cable TV with plenty of channels, a PVR and 3 receivers, fast Internet service with 100 GB monthly usage, and basic landline phone service, all for $133. That's not bad, I think. But I'll have to call again in a couple of years and threaten to leave in order to get a comparable price.

Can't complain as it holds pretty steady at all times of day. Upload speed is better than advertised (I'm supposed to only get 1.5 or so)

I bought a new Surfboard 6121 to replace a really really ancient modem last year, my internet has been killing ever since.
