Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

I might upgrade to a Note down the line, but for now I will take the slightly smaller and "Free" S4 since I would be upgrading from an iPhone 4S.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

A bunch of people I know have Note's, but I still dislike the size. Although I still don't imagine myself using anything other then a Nexus phone for awhile unless Android starts to suck.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

I can't go back to a smaller screen. People keep talking about the Note's size, but I have no issues with it.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

Yeah 4.3 ... Nice upgrade from 4.1 here's some of the stuff I've found:

Move apps from the internal memory to the SD card is back!
Camera has a couple of new features. Nothing like my wife's Note 3 though
Has a new app called Pen.Up. I'm not really sure what it is but it looks like a way to swap drawings with other people.
Support for the Galaxy Gear
Maybe this was there already but I now have Blocking mode and Hands Free mode options in my settings. I don't recall them being there before.

This fixed a bug with hot-spotting. Previously there was a way to turn the Mobile Hotspot on and it would bypass the check to see if you have the feature on your plan. They patched this

So far it looks like a solid update. This update break Flikie Wallpaper from being able to automatically change your wallpaper every so often. I really liked that app but it now crashes out when it tries to change.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

That's the kind of pricing Motorola should have been targeting from the get go.

The Moto X is $400 directly from Motorola too in case anyone is interested. I am guessing that Motorola didn't start out with this pricing because it wanted to sell through the carriers, and there was probably some agreement for pricing.

Of note the Verizon g2 and one are $450 no contract directly from Verizon. These phones are factory sim unlocked. The g2 has Tmobile's band 4 lte support, the one would be limited to 4g.

Note, I am not sure how the g2 is configured but my Verizon Note 3 gets 4GLTE on tmobile in lte but only lte alone. It would have to be manually changed to 4g /3g /2g data and voice. Note that I don't have root, so there maybe a root option that I don't know about

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....

Motorola has just announced via its Twitter account that it will be offering the Moto X without contract for $100 on January 27th. The deal will apply to any Moto X, meaning that the 16GB will run just $299 and the 32GB will cost $349. The catch, however, is that the deal will only run for one hour and “while supplies last.” The offer will be available from 3PM ET to 4PM ET on the 27th of January.

Motorola also notes that, until Valentine’s Day (February 14th), the Moto X will be available for $70 off, should you miss out on the $100 off offer. That means that the 16GB model will be available for $330 and the 32GB for $380 It looks like that offer will kick in after the $100 off offer sells out on the 27th.

I am waiting to see what the Samsung S5 brings. If nothing too exciting, I will get the Nexus 5.

It's patent sharing, it doesn't mean that Samsung is committed to producing only Android phones now.
