Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....
The only thing I can't determine is if the LTE is on the chip or if it's a different chip. Makes a difference to me due to the battery savings.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....
All I'd care about is the bottom line usage numbers.
My Razr Maxx gets day use out of 4G, but like 3 days out of 3g. |

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....
I am going to look at both the GS3 and the new Evo LTE for Sprint for the wife. She is most interested in battery and camera.
I would probably be more interested in the GS3 with the removable storage. But if there is a 32GB model of the Evo That probably wouldn't be an issue for me.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....
At this point I am going to switch back to Sprint when LTE is activated in Los Angeles. I will probably get the LTEvo, but am curious about the new Photon that will probably come out this summer.
No interest in the GSIII, I've been burned by spec-ed out but poorly built and supported Samsung phones before.

EVO LTE pre-orders start today. $199 from Sprint and $149 from Wirefly. Wirefly is saying May 18th is the release date.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....
I'm assuming this doesn't constitute piracy since it is a free application to begin with, but I don't know how that works since it's supposed to be Galaxy S3 "Exclusive" for a while.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....
So, my wife had an Evo Shift, I have had to exchange it through TEP 3 times in the last month. They finally sent a regular Evo 4g instead. She has 7 months until she could upgrade.
So I called Sprint, they offered her to "Buy up" to get her upgrade reset to now. So we paid $70 to reset the upgrade, but since they downgraded her handset (Shift to Evo) they gave her a $50 credit. Then they gave us an $80 credit to extend her contract 2 years (which I will do when we activate her new phone anyway). Then I went to Wirefly to get the Evo Shift LTE for $119 for her. So total out of pocket will be $59 for the phone. Now I just have to deal with the jealousy of having my wife have the latest phone. Oh, and I got a $150 offer for the new looking evo. My Brother and Law wants to flash it to one of the pay as you go carriers.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....
Since Sprint is activating LTE in Los Angeles this month, I pre-ordered the LTEvo at Best Buy. Just waiting for the 18th to roll around.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....
Sense 4.0 is "Sense-lite" which works out great, it's because they were apparently shorted on development time for ICS and it worked out as a huge advantage for users. It's very similar to the Sense that was on the Droid Incredible which was imo the best version til now.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....
Yeah, I might start with a straight root, no additional ROM, then see how I feel about Sense 4.0.

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....
If anyone is stuck on a G2X and hasn't received the holy update from T-mobile yet, it has re-appeared in the LG Support Tool. You may have to reboot the phone while it's plugged in to get it to properly detect the version number and get the update.
Update substantially helps the GPS and stability. |

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....
So found out Orlando market is in the second round of Sprint LTE. They say Orlando, but in their announcement they mention all up and down the east coast of Florida. I looked at their upgrade sites in the next 6 months and there is 13-15 different sites in this little area. One of their 'Network Vision' upgrades was already installed a few blocks from my house and my 3g speeds tripled in the area.
Wimax never got near me..

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....
FWIW South Floridians, AT&T is "testing" LTE in metropolitan Fort Lauderdale and Miami proper. Take "testing" with a grain of salt. The speeds are piss-poor compared to what they have in Orlando/Tampa.

Looks like the LTEvo launch may be delayed (affects current sales of One X as well): http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/15/h...-itc-exclusio/

Re: The one and only ANDROID thread....
http://www.androidcentral.com/multit...its-customized
This makes me not want the 4G LTE. Seems like they borked multi tasking in Sense 4. It is a big deal for me. I have poor signal in one of the buildings I work in, so i will load a web page and while I wait I will read pulse or Twitter. If i have to reload the page switching back it defeats the purpose. Despite the good deal I am getting on the phone ($49 at Best Buy) it may not be worth the upgrade. If it stays that way i may have to wait for the SGS III

I found this article, which has an interesting study of fragmentation on Android:
