Loose USB port on external hard drive
I have an i/o Magic gigabank external hard drive and the USB port on the back of the HD is loose. Any way to repair this? My computer will recognize it if I wiggle the cable just right, but it's real finnicky and looses connect easily.
It looks like this. ![]() There are no screws on the case. I would have to destroy the case in order to get inside to the disc This is the kind of USB cable it uses. ![]() |

Re: Loose USB port on external hard drive
Well, I got it open. I just peeled back the end (stuck on with double sided tape) and there were two screws. I took the HDD out and installed it inside my computer case. It seems to be working fine. Must have been the connections used to make it an external drive.
