EXCEL help (sorting)

OK, so I am copying & pasting into excel. Let's say I'm copying from a page that has the following info:

Release date (column A)
Country (column B)
Video Game Name (column C)
Sales (column D)
Rating (Column E)
Price (column F)

I copy & paste the info into Excel, but if I try to sort by video game name (column C), it only moves that column, which means the rest of the info isn't aligned correctly with the game since it only sorted column C. How do I go about getting everything to sort with column C, but use column C as the "A-Z" sort starting point?

Thanks,

~S2K

Re: EXCEL help (sorting)

try paste-special-values instead of regular paste. or you can select the whole sheet and copy and paste it over itself. it'll then sort beyond that one column

Re: EXCEL help (sorting)

OK, I tried using paste special...there were 3 options, text & another crammed everything together without columns, so that's no good, and HTML didn't work when I sorted.

I don't understand what you mean by copy/paste the whole sheet over itself to get it to sort beyond that column. Sorry, I'm not very good with excel.

Re: EXCEL help (sorting)

You can try it the old fashioned way where you select the whole table and then tell it to sort. It should prompt you with a dialog where you then specify which column to sort by and whether you want ascending or descending sort.
