Task manager type app that will show which core a process is running on?
I know that stuff is getting passed out to each core based on Core Temp showing the percentage of each core, but I'd like an app that shows what core each process is on

Re: Task manager type app that will show which core a process is running on?
I found a process manager that shows a given process's "affinity" (which core the process is associated with). It's called Bill2's Process Manager:
Here's a review: http://www.ghacks.net/2008/04/25/bil...ocess-manager/ Here's the French homepage for it, with google translation into English: http://translate.googleusercontent.c...PCo-cfJDVbvn6A Note that the program itself has an English language setting. However, I don't know how useful it will be. When running it on my Vista Dual-Core, it showed the affinity for all the applications running as "1+2," meaning all the apps were utilizing dual-processing capabilities. As such, they appeared evenly distributed in the statistics. I guess it might be useful to locate a single-core utlizing process. You can also manually set the affinity for a program, but if it's using multiple cores, I think it's wiser to just let it keep using multiple cores and let Windows manage its resources. |
