wizard of oz digital copy error

ok, so i picked up the blu ray set cause it cost the same as the dvd set,
but i dont have a blu ray player (or ps3) yet, so i was gonna use the digital copy to playback over pc until i eventually get blu hardware..

problem is it doesnt work, the auto start launches, errors, & closes
"BITS connection failed" i have no idea what this is, google is useless..
the support site digitalcopywarnerbros.com/help has a bunch of idiot faqs, & no info on this error.. ive contacted them 2ce & heard no response in a week when they say theyll respond in 2 days
i have not entered my code anywhere other than 'support' contact form

reading the faqs i thought i might need adobe air installed, but no help,
i think its an ie thing, but it only says i need ie6 & i get the same error in either xp or vista

my gut tells me to just try & play the wmv & then enter the code,
but i did that with wolverine & found out the hard way you need to use the little program.. (fox at least responded & reset my code)

im pissed enough that im thinking i should just find the movie by other means
but id rather get this working since i paid for it

Re: wizard of oz digital copy error

that is an unusual error

Can you run Windows Update successfully?

I am thinking BITS = background intelligent transfer service

and windows update running successfully would be a test of the BITS service.

Re: wizard of oz digital copy error

Is the Wizard of Oz digital copy Windows Media-only?

If it's compatible with iTunes, the OP could boot up iTunes and see if it recognizes the disc, which would appear in the left panel. It probably won't help, but it's the only suggestion I have (if indeed the digital copy is compatible with iTunes).

Re: wizard of oz digital copy error

ok i tried update, heres the error they gave me

Quote:
The site cannot continue because one or more of these Windows services is not running:

Automatic Updates (allows the site to find, download and install high-priority updates for your computer)
Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) (helps updates download more quickly and without problems if the download process is interrupted)
Event Log (keeps a record of updating activities to help with troubleshooting, if needed)
To make sure these services are running:
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. Type services.msc and then click OK.
3. In the list of services, double-click on Automatic Updates and then click Properties.
4. In the Startup type list, select Automatic and click Apply.
5. Verify that the Service status is started, if the Service Status is Stopped click on the Start Button.
6. In the list of services, double-click on Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) and then click Properties.
7. In the Startup type list, select Manual and click Apply.
8. Verify that the Service status is started, If the Service Status is Stopped click on the Start Button.
9. In the list of services, double-click on Event Log and then click Properties.
10. In the Startup type list, select Automatic and click Apply.
11. Verify that the Service status is started, If the Service Status is Stopped click on the Start Button.
If this does not resolve the problem you may request help from one of the following resources.

tried their solution & the digital copy program started working
thanks

but now its telling me to install "Digital Copy Manager" as well

wb still hasnt responded, & im still pissed about this
i dont like the idea of being forced to install crap or giving some kind of backdoor access
to a program thats run by hollywood & has no legitimate need

fox uses a little program too, but no BITS required & no installation (that i know of)
i still dont see why special programs need to be run either, as far as i know drm still hasnt been cracked
& the real keys are only handed to you once the website approves your pass key

its getting to the point where i want to run xp in a sandbox

Re: wizard of oz digital copy error

apparently im still not good here..

after getting past the BITS issue, it made me install flash on ie,
then adobe air, then it goes through some more crap & just sits there..
& thats only if i tell windows to let it install & NOT protect my files..

the digital copy manager opens, but the digital copy program does nothing
rerunning just sits on the same place again

theres an import option in the manager but it doesnt work either

Re: wizard of oz digital copy error

ok i gave up & tried to just access the wmv directly
like i did when i screwed up my wolverine pass key..
& apparently it works fine! all the headaches couldve been avoided..?
either because wmp is a nwer version this time,
or maybe anything else that mightve botched it got fixed in the meantime..
but now im definitely gonna uninstall all the crap wb dumped on my computer

What do you mean you aren't itunes compatible. It works in windows and mac. And OP = Original Poster
