won't run it wasn't the right wording. it won't come with it and doesn't seem to be a feature that will be supported.

Engadget does a preview on this phone new Sony phone and it's not exactly glowing. http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/02/s...-on/#continued

Re: (Verizon/Motorola/Google) DROID - November 6th

Is it Friday yet?

Went to the local Verizon store yesterday and got to play with their demo model. The thing is gorgeous. It's much smaller than I imagined it would be from the pictures. The screen is just ... wow. It's the benchmark right now.

They had the accessories, but the only one I want right now is the home dock. I'll just wait and get it with the phone. I think my wife would have laughed at me if I came home with a docking station that I can't even use yet.

What if they sell out of the dock though? It seems to me like the docks are going to be the most popular accessory.

If they sell out of it, I'll wait until they get more in. I use my current phone as an alarm clock without a docking stations, and I bet the DROID will just require a button press to get into the "home dock" mode until I can get one.

Verizon Wireless can order one for you and ship it to your home. They can not have one shipped to a store due to inventory control issues.

From what I remember when I last worked there, if the VZ employee orders it then there is no shipping fee.

Re: (Verizon/Motorola/Google) DROID - November 6th

Looks like many stores are going to open early for the launch: http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/1...-droid-launch/

I think I may order it online (if they do orders). I'd rather wait a few extra days than have to deal with mobs of people trying to get this thing.

Great demo of the battery life. And I don't think the music app looks half bad either.

Default. I have it on on my MyTouch. It came out on Android's 1.6 update. DROID is shipping with Android v2.0.

Yeah, I saw that. I'm going to wait till the X10 actually comes out before making a decision.

I can't wait for G4 and Engadget to correct their "reviews". Oh wait - yes I can.

Engadget: Motorola DROID's built-in apps don't have multitouch support, third-party stuff is another story

Re: (Verizon/Motorola/Google) DROID - November 6th

Which I think will easily changed (or fixed if you look at it that way) with the release of 2.1 at the end of this year.

The Milestone has a multi-touch browser, and it's Android 2.0:
http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/02/d...ola-milestone/

So why do you think the Droid browser will be updated to support multi-touch, and why do you think it'll wait until a full OS update?

Re: (Verizon/Motorola/Google) DROID - November 6th

Looks like Engadget is the one doing the spinning. They were wrong and they were proven wrong and now they're using one ridiculously overrated gesture to try to save face.

Multi-touch is much more than one gesture and the DROID does have apps that utilize it right out of the box.

What apps? I know the keyboard has multi-touch (you can overlap pressing keys), but what apps that come with it utilize multi-touch gestures?

Huh? I'm saying that I think with the new update, we'll get upgrades for existing apps to utilize multi-touch. I don't see why it couldn't be done with a minor update, which considering the rumors are 2.1 will be hitting in December, I don't see that as being much of an issue.

The softkeyboard is enough to prove it. It supports multi-touch "out of the box".

I still don't get the hype over "pinch zoom".

Why do you think that multi-touch gesture support is a factor of timing though, when the Milestone will have this support and is due out only 3 days after the DROID? Certainly multi-touch gestures in the apps didn't come down to 3 days of extra development on the Milestone.
