When I click on a wav file in IE (5.50.4134.0600) it opens up as a page with a bunch of wacked-out letters and stuff. Like this: BØy¿³åÚ´«cFÿó@ÄöÚ÷˜x™xxâv
It's all cool looking and stuff, but I really would rather hear the sound instead.

How can I associate it to open up with winamp, or media recorder or something?

Thanks!

There are several ways, but since I don't know your OS here are the safe universal ways.
find a .wav file on your hard drive, hold down the shift key and right click on it, choose 'open with' from the menu and pick a program (like winamp) from the list, make sure the 'always open with this program' box is checked on.

OR

re-install winamp and let it re-associate all sound files for you.

Nope, that didn't work. It associated a file on my drive to open with a program, but when I click on a link in a browser, like this wav file it brings up a page with all those wierd characters.

I have Win2000 by the way.

Well, I posted the question at anandtech, and they helped, sort of. I re-installed windows media player, and that solved the problem. What happened I guess was the file association somehow got messed up, where it was associated, but it wasn't in the browser. When it should be the same. Anyways, it works now.
