Windows Media Player problems HELP!
Ok, I have Vista and WMP 11. For the past week or so, about 50% of the time when I click on an mp3 or avi or whatever the file will not open. I have to close it out and re-click 2 or 3 times.
It can happen on small files, large files whatever. If I right click, I can't even select the option to open in WMP. I tried to see if I could update the program, and a message popped up saying that the version I had on my computer was newer than the version it was trying to install, so I backed out. Now I still have problems opening files, but after I close the player the audio continues from the file to the end of the file (if I don't watch/listen to the whole file)... HELP!

Re: Windows Media Player problems HELP!
The main problem, in my opinion, is that you aren't using VLC to play your media files.

yeah, vlc is the way to go.
you can always uninstall wmp and re-install it.....although with Vista, who knows what the issue really is. |

Mediamonkey for audio library.
![]() VLC for video. Now... when WMP actually starts struggling to function, you usually have a Windows that had self corrupted to the point where it needs repairing. Disable antivirus. Open the command line with administrative level permissions. Type 'sfc /scannow'(no quotes) and hit enter. Wouldn't surprise me if it asks for the CD.

Re: Windows Media Player problems HELP!
I have VLC and use it a lot.
I got it mainly for FLV files, but I know it works for just about everything. What I don't like (and you'll probably think it's minor) is that when you blow up the video to full screen in VLC, there is no audio control.
