Re: Help me disable a PC...

I don't think changing clock speeds is going to matter much in this case though. They're probably just going to check to see that the computer boots up and functions properly. Clocking it down from, say, 3Ghz to 1.8Ghz isn't going to be dramatically noticeable unless the system is being stressed from a game or something. I don't know if they're going to bother to check the system properties and run benchmarks to see that it's running at the expected speed.

Cutting a signal lead or rearranging the leads where they meet the connector teeth on an IDE cable is a good way to see if they think of replacing the cable.

What about installing ram that has a lower voltage rating than what that MB provides?

It is a plausible real-world scenario, someone buying and installing the wrong voltage ram.

You could try doing that then handing them the charred remains.

I didn't mean to connect the PC to a 220v outlet but to flip the power supply switch to 220v.

Rename USERINIT.EXE (or delete it). Everytime they log in it will start to get to windows then kick them back to the password screen. Safe mode won't work either. Can be a bitch the first time you come across it if you can't wipe and reload as a solution.
