Firefox 3.5 is out!

Seems a bit a faster, but Tab Mix Plus doesn't work anymore.

Re: Firefox 3.5 is out!

I never had a problem with FF's speed before, that's why the speed increase seems so small for me. I do like that they added open a new tab next to your currently opened tab.

Re: Firefox 3.5 is out!

Seems pretty snappy, but not enough to pull me from using Chrome.

TMP 0.3.6 works with Fx 3.5
If you are using TMP 0.3.7pre, get the latest dev version:

It seems to handle Java applets a lot faster.

Article on Firefox 3.5 from Computerworld:

Review: Firefox 3.5 makes browsing faster, easier and more fun

They say it's faster, mostly because of the JavaScript rendering.

Re: Firefox 3.5 is out!

Faster at what?
loading webpages or starting up the brwoser? The latter is still too slow for me. Similar problem with openoffice - very slow first startup but fast load afterwards.

I browzed that report but honestly don't get it.
If it says 3.5 after a particular add,it's compatible?

Re: Firefox 3.5 is out!

Thanks for the heads up that this was out, I was pretty close to trying out the beta but figured I would wait for the actual release. Liking it quite a bit so far, nice and smooth

Re: Firefox 3.5 is out!

I upgraded this morning, but haven't really played around with it. It does seem faster, which is nice. I do have one problem, though...

Some of my larger bookmark folders aren't listing all the sites contained in them when I click on them. For example, the bookmark folder I have named "shopping," which has 29 sites in it, only has 13 listed and there doesn't seem to have a "show all" option other than "open all tabs" (which then warns me that 29 tabs will be opened). When I go to "Organize Bookmarks" and click on the "shopping" folder everything's listed fine and dandy.

Is this happening to anyone else? Anyone know how I can get all of my bookmarks listed when I click on a folder?

Re: Firefox 3.5 is out!

I notice my Firefox is using almost a gig of RAM now.(I'm a power browser)

But is loading pages faster, and I like the improvements.

Damn, I have got this too.

In the list it seems one bookmark has been royally messed up to where it's blank, you can't delete, it lists no properties when highlighted. There are 100+ bookmarks in that folder, but after that one broken bookmark they do not show up. Only by going into 'organize bookmarks' can I see them.

But that 'royally screwed' bookmark cannot be moved, deleted, or forgotten in 'organize bookmarks'. So I wonder how to fix this.

Re: Firefox 3.5 is out!

A little Googling shows that we're not alone with the missing bookmarks after the 3.5 upgrade. I came across this page: http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view...arentId=381468

I just did the bookmark restore and it seemed to work fine. Luckily there was a July 2 restore point and I don't believe that I added any new bookmarks since yesterday.

I also had a few of those "royally screwed" bookmarks, but those showed up about a month or so ago for some reason, well before this upgrade. But they seem to have disappeared with the restore.

Re: Firefox 3.5 is out!

I got TMP working with 3.5 after a little googling.

Using the latest dev build I found I had to uninstall/disable the "Undo Closed Tabs Button" extension or TMP would have no effect on the browser window. TMP has a nearly identical undo function so it really was no loss.

Re: Firefox 3.5 is out!

I had to reinstall Roboform, initially it said it wasn't compatible.
I do see one big improvement already: one of my bookmarks is a bunch of comics on one page, and with 3.0.x, when I shut that page down it always crashed and took a few minutes to release the resources or something, and I would have to restart FF. With 3.5, I can actually shut that tab down quickly and continue browsing.

Re: Firefox 3.5 is out!

Hmm.... starting up FF is defiantly a lot slower now. Not noticing any improvement in browsing speed.
