Re: Firefox 3.5 is out!
i noticed the exact opposite. FF 3.0 used to be slow as molasses starting up. now i click on the button and it comes up instantly.

Re: Firefox 3.5 is out!
I've got a laptop which I pretty much only use for web browsing. I was using FF3.0 and with an hour of normal use, it's memory usage would be ~500-600MB. Considering I only have a 1GB or RAM it was incredibly slow and would hang for a few minutes every now and then. Shutting down FF would take 5+ minutes minimum and I'd have to do it every few hours before things got too slow.
I was a little worried about 3.5 considering Dr. Mabuse saying 3.5 used 1GB of memory. I installed it and it couldn't be faster. Memory usage is in the 250-350MB range consistently, even when running for hours. It starts up slowly, but then 3.0 did for me as well, and 3.5 shuts down in seconds. It's also incredibly response, far better than IE on that laptop. I have no complaints at all. Best browser upgrade ever IMO. |

I love 3.5, just like you do. I only had the bookmark hiccup, which was easily resolved with a restore.

Before upgrading to FF3.5, make a backup of your bookmarks!
The default backup filename is "Bookmarks yyyy-mm-dd.json" (replace yyyy-mm-dd with today's date). The "place it on your Desktop" is a personal preference - if you've got a better preferred place, by all means go for it.

Re: Firefox 3.5 is out!
All I can say is 3.5 has made my internet move to a crawl. I switched back to version 3 and everything is fine.

Re: Firefox 3.5 is out!
And now, there's a 3.5.2 update:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox.../releasenotes/ I had issues with performance with 3.5, but with everything's been smooth with 3.5.1 and 3.5.2. |
