Unable to burn music anymore

I used to be able to burn music on cds with my DELL computer.
But lately I get this message:
Windows Media Player cannot burn the files to the CD. Verify that the disc is clean and not damaged. If necessary, select a slower recording speed or try a different brand of blank discs.
I have used 4 different brands of cds and changed speeds.
I even got a 2009 McAfee thinking I had a virus that was causing it.
I am able to plays cds and watch dvds though.

Re: Unable to burn music anymore

Try a different Burning program, CDBurnerXP seems to be recommended often here and I've tried it and like it. Oh, and it's free.

It that doesn't work there may be a problem with the Burner, it uses a different laser than the Read one to burn so it may be that the Burn laser is broken while the Read Laser is ok.

Re: Unable to burn music anymore

It's your drive. I have a Dell that does the same thing. I can burn DVD just fine, but not CDs (it won't recognize them). For the most part it won't play CDs any more either (that has slowly been getting worse.)

I looked it up a while ago and saw a lot of people with similar issues with Dells.
