mp3 player for mowing?
No, I'm not looking for an mp3 player with features so amazing that it will mow my lawn.
I'm looking for an mp3 player / headphone combination that wil block out noise and work well for use while riding my lawn tractor. I don't care about video, etc. just music. Any suggestions? |

That's the way to go. Although with a good pair of muffs the players original buds may work well enough.

The Shure earphones are great at noise isolation, but for something like lawn mowing, I'm certain that there still will be some noise leak-through.

Just crank it up loud. Like there wont be an audible version of lasik surgery in the next 10 years.

I use the original buds, and I have headphones for my scanner that I use at nascar races that block out the decibels over top of them. And, put the iPod in an armband.

I think the ear muffs are a great idea. Though I don't think I would use earphones that pricey for long outdoor use - consider how much sweat can build up in the ears while mowing which could damage the earphones.

For those who don't want to use separate headphones/ear muffs, you can get ear muffs with built-in headphones like these:
http://www.amazon.com/Peltor-90541-W...dp/B0013092CS/ http://www.amazon.com/Peltor-90534-W...dp/B000GATFVY/ I couldn't find one without an AM/FM tuner built-in, but they all have auxillary jacks for hooking up a separate audio device. |

This thread came up on a routine search for "muff mowing". It does not deliver.

A routine search? You routinely search for muff mowing? Wow, I'm speechless and suppose I should expand my horizons! (and I thought SLC, Utah banned that sort of thing! ) |
