I am sooo waiting for the Jailbreak.
I started getting pretty much any free app I could find but now I'm just keeping the good ones I've pretty much erased anything that uses WiFi as I've resigned myself that I'll never have it outside of the home. So I've started loading up on games, videos, and music, and am content just having it as an offline device. I do like having access to all my downloaded email and I bought a $5 offline Wikipedia browser where I can save articles like Rock band song listings. I also pay $45 a year to Evernote and I can "clip" any web page and it gets loaded up to Evernote and after I download it to the Touch at home I have my notes everywhere.I bought pretty much every jigsaw puzzle I could find and spent about $25 on them (just the day before I had almost purchased 10 puzzles for $15 at Walmart... I am a jigsaw puzzle addict but hate losing pieces and needing a huge area to do big puzzles), and I got hundreds of puzzles for that and also the ability to use my pictures for puzzles so it's unlimited. One app even downloads a handful of photos of the days automatically so there's fresh content daily. I'll be posting reviews. So far I've spent the most time on ArtPuzzle and JigSaw Pro. ArtPuzzle has famous paintings, about 52-53 or so. I did them all on one long shift at work and felt satisfied with the couple of bucks I spent on it. Then I realized there were four difficulty levels and I had just done the easiest one. So I still have quite a few hours left on entertainment with that one. ArtPuzzle has square pieces all layed out and you touch the piece you want to move and then the destination and it flips them, and all you have to do is flip them into order. This gets really hard in the last couple of levels. (hard as in good hard, not frustrating hard )JigSaw Pro What I really like is that it has a "strip" to the side with the pieces and you drag the piece over to the puzzle area, and double click any piece in the puzzle area to send it back to the strip to unclutter it a bit. I wish once you find the correct piece that it would stay put, i.e. corner and edge pieces, as sometimes you move a piece you don't want to (but rarely and it's not a dealbreaker). This one is a lot of fun and it was only a buck. I'm just amazed at all the $1 and $2 jigsaw puzzle programs. You can't even find single puzzles for that much at Walmart. I don't know how many puzzles it comes with and the description doesn't specify it either, but this is one of the puzzles you can use your own images in, so once I'm done with the built-in ones I'll try that option. Edit: It seems to come with 26 pictures built-in, and you can go to your photo library and "save" pictures to the built-in library. I chose a background picture and it's hard as hell It works really well. Now I can get a bunch of puppy pics Can I hear an "awwwww" ?I'll be posting jigsaw puzzle reviews as I play them. I cannot recommend Blackbeard's Assault for $2. Finished the easy and I'm stuck on hard now (and then there's expert). Even once you finish it there's still the replayability factor. It's a Zuma-like game (which will come out eventually). I just got my earphones/microphone combo for $5.10 in the mail today, so I'll test out Truphone tomorrow. http://cgi.ebay.com/Earphone-w-micro...713.m153.l1262 I also recommend "Pro RSS Reader" which includes full offline reading including images. Two bucks. You can import OPML files into it (if you use Google Reader, it can export all your feeds into an OPML file).

Gatordeb - That link to the Ebay page didn't have any pictures and the earphones doesn't seem to be compatible with the 2nd G Touch (At least it doesn't state that it is). Last edited by LorenzoL; 01-03-09 at 07:21 AM. |

So that's why I couldn't get TruPhone to work yesterday
Oh well at least they were a cheap experiment.Tetris is THE BOMB. I didn't expect to have so much fun with it. It's on sale for $5 (regular $10) and 99% of the bad reviews are because of the high price. 10000% recommended. Bejeweled 2 is down to $3 (first $10, then $8). Someone posted in the Video Game forum about http://appshopper.com Great place to find bargains. My Touch didn't come with a mic either ![]()

Re: "must have" apps for the iphone?
Sorry for the bump but I just got a 32gb Touch and I'm wondering if anyone has any new apps that are worthy of loading.

PocketGod and Flight Control are both good for some mindless entertainment. Also, PocketGod is supposed to get weekly updates (that schedule seems to be slowing down a bit) that add features.

Re: "must have" apps for the iphone?
I dl'd the "Restaurants" app and it's awesome. The thing lists tons of nutritional info from dozens of eateries. For someone like me who likes ot eat healthy, this is great for knowing what's best when I'm out.

Re: "must have" apps for the iphone?
I was just looking for cases for the wii and then came across info on ipod touch. I see they now have a 32 gig version which smaller than what I would like but might be good enough if I use it different than my 60 gig mp3 player.
With that app store and now a good sized storage options the touch seems to be king of mp3 players. The problems I see are mostly minor. The real problems for me is not having a real keyboard, no fm/am, apple's unending mission to do stupid things like no cut and paste but I hear that might be fixed now? I think I'm in for one.

Re: "must have" apps for the iphone?
i got it. There is a check bock under power search. So to search for free games all you have to do is check the box and search for games. Doesn't look like I can search by type or sort buy downloads or rating. Pretty poor search engine. Lots of good stuff though.

Re: "must have" apps for the iphone?
Do they send out receipts after you buy stuff? I bought a couple of apps but haven't received a receipt on any of them.

Yes, you'll get a receipt to the address your Apple ID is tied to. Sometimes it takes a few days.

Re: "must have" apps for the iphone?
I tried VNC Mocha Lite (free) last night. Incredible that it works. The only problem is now I want it to work better.
I launched ie8 on my computer via my iPod Touch, and my computer responded perfectly. But when I clicked (tapped) favorites my computer responded but my iPod Touch did not display my computers response. I tried hitting refresh, but that didn't work. I had to log off, and re-connect to get the Touch's screen to display properly. -but hey, it's free. |
