Car charger drain battery?

I'm taking a trip from ATL to Houston, and my G/F wants to use her portable DVD player in my car, hooked up to the cigarette lighter port. My question is: will this place undue strain on my car battery or otherwise drain it prematurely? I realize this may be premature, but I'm a pretty paranoid guy.

Not really, it won't drain the battery with motor running. But it will drain the battery if you turn off the engine.

Yeah I wouldn't advice on watching all lord of the rings movies when the car isn't running

A problem could result in it being too much of a drain on your battery causing your alternator to work overtime and killing itself. It's happened in vehicles that work overtime with amplifiers...usually too many trying to power too much.

It's only a portable dvd player, not a TV or microwave. Also, the car will be at a higher rpm than idling when it's moving.
