Help! I can't access the net on my PC.
OK, I have a modem installed in my bedroom, as well as a router to get a connection for my laptop. Connects to the net like a charm.
How do I get internet access on my PC as well? I feel like an idiot for asking as I consider myself somewhat tech savvy, but for the life of me I cannot figure this out. I tried connecting the PC to the router with an ethernet cable. No luck. I tried connecting the modem to my PC via a USB cable. Again, no luck. Currently, the modem is connected to the cable from the wall and the router is connected to the modem via an ethernet cord. When I try to problem solve using Windows XP help, it says I need to install software. Shouldn't a connection via a wire suffice in getting a connection? I have a charter cable modem and didn't need software (other than the set-up disc that came with the router) to get a connection. Ideas? |

Did you make sure that the Ethernet cable is going from the back of the modem to the Internet port on the router?
