What 'unique' laptops are out there?

Im looking to get someone a cool new laptop but the most important thing would not be 'processing power' as much as it would need to be 'unique' or cool with 'gee-whiz' factor. I guess they kind of want something that looks different than everyone elses laptop at the coffee shop. No silly 'rainbow brite' theme pink laptop please. I was thinking of a Mac laptop but I havent really shopped for a laptop in a long time. What else is out there? Is alienware considered cool or poser?

There wouldnt be much gaming on this laptop, its mostly for surfing the web or running some kind of office softwares on the go.

Is the Origami for sale anywhere yet?

Most Wintel laptops are made by a few kit builders and then resold to Dell or HP to be branded and finished. Alienware is overpriced.

if I was going to spend a ton of money for a laptop for the cool factor, I would buy one of the Intel Powerbooks.

My cheap Averatec 2155 has a neat white ipod look and gets some attention. Its actually a decent little notebook for the $900 spent on it.

Get a Macbook Pro and throw Windows XP on it. It's a solid laptop, looks great, and the XP hack gives it geek cred.

If you don't want to spend the money on a MPB, the consumer books should be out soon.
