help me with my network problem...

The other day, I restarted my computer and out of no where, it just started getting limited or no connectivity to the internet.

It's hooked up to my Linksys router. The other devices on the router are getting the internet fine.

When I try to repair the problem: It says problem occurs when Renewing the IP.

Please help, I need this computer up and running!

Have you try rebooting the computer yet? Or just unplug the power to the router and reconnect again.

1) Jiggle the cables.

2) Unplug router for 5 min, plug back in.

3) get a new network cable.
unplug old network cable.
restart computer.
plug in new network cable.

4) Also, it is not uncommon for single ports to die on a router. Try swapping ports with another device.

I have tried switching ports, as well as restarting.

I've unplugged router as well.

When I uncheck Internet protocol, it becomes connected, but no internet...

Is the firmware in your router up to date?

Well the other computers are getting fine internet from the router, so I assume so.

Is it possible I could have deleted a vital file? My son was using EasyCleaner and could something have messed up?

Should I just go buy a new network card or what do you guys think?

If you haven't already done it I would go through the protocols and compare a working computer to a non-working computer. Sounds like a file may have been deleted or corrupted. That is more likely than a port going bad...not to say a port can not go bad.

Have you installed or uninstalled ANYTHING recently?

This easy cleaner "supposively" deleted all unnecessary files. I'm also having a problem with Norton's Auto-Protect, it seems to want to restart my computer right when I turn it on.

I'm so frustrated...what's the easiest solution?

Either a bad NIC, bad NIC drivers, or some files got fudged. Do you have XP? If so, try restoring to a few days before the problem occured.

Too late, never knew XP had system restore, so I just turned it on.

Uninstall the driver (in device manager) for the NIC. Reboot and let windows redetect and reinstall. Or you could grab a NIC from another machine and pop it in, and see if it installs/works.

I tried taking out my Linksys Wireless card from another PC and it detects it, but it can't install bc it says it needs the internet...or a disc and I don't have the disc for that driver anymore.
