Transfer VHS to Computer?

I'd like to transfer my old VHS tape to digital files so that I can create mpegs, VCD, DVDs, etc. I'm saavy in everything but the first step - getting the video into the computer!

I have an old desktop which doesn't really have the computing power or memory to do it, so a PCI video card is out. I have a new Dell laptop which would be perfect, but don't know which products to look at.

Any ideas? (Thanks in advance)

There have been so many threads on this topic. One thread about this is currently on this same first page of this forum.

Try searching for tape or record or VHS*.
