LightScribe Will It Live? Or Die Soon?

Okay, I'm in the market for a DL burner, I already have an Epson R200 so I can print to the inkjet printable disc. But is this lightscribe actually going to stay around? It would be nice to have and not waste my ink on say music CDs or Data Disc.

If anyone else has a lightscribe drive please post and give me some info.

I saw light scribe cds the other day at compusa
still haven't seen any blank dual layer dvds though
I wonder if it will be possible to do a firmware update to make existing drives be able to burn the lightscribe label?

From Supermediastore:

100-pack HP Lightscribe 8xDVD-Rs: $170 or $1.70 each
100-pack HP branded 8x DVD+Rs: $39 or $0.39 each

Unless they get the prices even reasonable, the LS DVDs are gonna go the way of the Edsel.

It looks like the cheapest DL discs they have on the site are $3.99 each. By that logic, Lightscribe DL discs should be around $17.00 each. :-0

HOLY CRAP!!!! I can just print more full color on my R200 for that type of cost. Oh well light scribe looks like the CD-R and DVD-R version of the MiniDisc. Its cool, but only the fat kid who rides the short bus uses it.
