Way to split up a BIG file into smaller parts?

I have a file (around a gig) that I need to split up into smaller parts (4 parts around 250mb each). My gf doesnt have a cd burner on her computer, and I need to get a file to my house. I can use a 250mb zip drive, with 4 or 5 discs though.

any programs that will do this? and let me put the file back together?
