Using different brands of Wireless Connection

Can I change my D-Link DWL 650 card to another maker,because I cannot get it to work all the time.Getting tired of restarting the computer each time the card losses the signal.And the software will not runand work in my Inspiron 8100.No matter what the tech support said and advised me to do.
Using Windows Xp Pro.
I have the D-Link router DI 614+ and it's working perfectly.

Can I just change to another makers card and still use it with the D-link wireless router?
Or shall I just get a new card?

Since 802.11b has been a standard for some years now, most, if not all, manufacturers have worked out the compatibility issues that used to exist when mixing-n-matching different brands in a wireless network. Therefore, you should be able to pop in another 802.11b card to your laptop and have it work fine with your D-Link router.

I think he's asking if he can get a new card from another manufacturer, or if he should just try buying another one of the same card that he already has... I think.

You should be able to get one from almost anyone, & have it work with your router. Note that any enhancements that the card might advertise (like the 'turbo' speeds, etc) will generally only work with the same brand of router - but it should still work at regular 802.11x speeds.

I just want to get a card that works without restarting each time.I understand about the router will work it's X 2 strenghts with only the same kind of brand.Thanks for the help
