how to password protect shared drives?
thanks to everyone's help, i finally have my wireless network set up! i just have a few more quick questions, if you'll bear with me... I am using windows XP home on both computers, by the way
1. i shared my hard drives on both computers, but i can't figure out how to password protect them. i remember this being an option under the sharing tab in 98, but i can't find it in XP 2. is there a way to check what computers are connected to my wireless network (im using a linksys 54WRT54G 802.11g router? 3. is there a way to set a password to connect to my wireless network (i dont want to have to use a WEP key, but simple passcode would make it easy for me and guests while keeping my network away from the rest of my apartment building) thank you so much for all of your help! |

I hope this helps:
1) I believe you have to use the User Accounts applet on the Control Panel and configure the settings and options for each account or group of accounts. 2) Just click on My Network Places on the Desktop or from My Computer. 3) With my D-Link I type http://192.168.0.1 on my browser and configure all the settings. I don't know if it would be the same with a Linksys router. |
