Any way to make Ctrl-V to do "Paste Special -> Unformatted" in Word?
Is there a way to make the Ctrl-V function to do Paste Special -> Unformatted Text by default instead of Paste? When I copy and paste, most of the time I don't want any formatting.

Select Edit > Paste Special, the dialogue box that pops up has an option for Unformatted text.
Hope that helps.

I think namja understands how to do it manuall, he wants the CTRL-V shortcut to default to that. Which I don't know how to do either. Would be handy, though.
You can change CTRL-V to automatically do "Paste Special" under the "Customize" keyboard menu. But I don't know if you can make it "Paste Special Unformatted."

There's a utility that removes the formatting from text in your clipboard.

what i do is i'll paste it to notepad, and copy it and paste it back to word. it's longer, but i almost never have to do it, so it's not a big deal.

Standard in 2002 and 2003...but not sure if that helps. (You need to click on the icon in the bottom right of the newly pasted area...it will ask if you want to keep current formatting, revert to old formatting, or match new formatting.)

I always do Alt+E...S...Page Down...Enter.
I mean, when I need to. Takes about the same time a "normal" person would take to hit Ctrl+V. ![]() |
