how do i get this virus

O/S: win 2000, i tried norton antivirus to get rid of the virus, but this is what norton pop up said:

Scan type: Realtime Protection Scan
Event: Virus Found!
Virus name: W32.Welchia.Worm
File: C:\WINNT\system32\wins\DLLHOST.EXE
Location: C:\WINNT\system32\wins
Computer: Q-FNAKJPMECPMF5
User: SYSTEM
Action taken: Clean failed : Quarantine failed : Access denied
Date found: Sat Oct 11 22:23:44 2003

i d/l the win 2000 patch from ms, but that seen does not solve the problem. thank for all the help.

You need to download the removal tool. Get it at www.symantec.com One of my clients got this at work and I ran the removal tool and it worked like a charm.

how did you get it?
by having NT/WIN2k/WinXP and not having the latest service packs and rpc updates
welchia was kin to that blaster virus that went around awhile back
Im sure there are still MILLIONS of people with welchia, that dont realize it

let symantec clean it.. also, be sure to do the microsoft updates from http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
