Intel's Pentium 4 Extreme Edition
Wow, the CPU sounds like it will kick ass, but the price will beat the hell out of my wallet too. Topping the $700 mark each. OW!
With a total of 2.5MB of onboard cache running at the full speed of the processor, Hyperthreading, and arhitecture identical to the xeon mp, this is definitely what they were talking about when they said its "geared toward gamers." But then again I think its just to make AMD a little sad in the pants right before they launch their Athlon 64/FX/whatever its called now. Intel needs to realize that not all gamers are rich, in fact, bottom line, not many will shell out for this kind of cpu, and if they do , they are probably the same ones who will buy iy in an alienware PC. Oh well, its nice to see them give gamers some attention. And waht is up with the name??? whats next? Pentium 4 Crtierion? Athlon Superbit? heheh

I forget, does "Ultimate" come before or after "Extreme"?
How did Terminator 2 do that again? |

I just hope that the P4 Extreme Edition will come with a heatsink/fan combo that won't scratch and damage the cpu

Waste of money. I'll get the AMD 3000 and by the time the next version of this CPU comes out games will actually support the power of the P4 Extreme Edition. Other than that you are only paying for bandwith you won't use for a few years.

Well, two can play the name game. AMD might as well call their next gen. processors AMD Beyond.

Actually, real gamers with that kind of money will build there own
Anyway, i'd wait to pass judgement when we actually see benchmarks. The extra cache may help in some situations while doing nothing in others, so we'll see. |

Anyone else think that the "intel inside" symbol is related to the depressed rock that usually likes chasing ladybugs?
